Nevada @ Fresno Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Nevada looks like a different  team since Norvell took over the play calling. That said i think the nevada southern/Nevada game will be a close nut buster game., just like most rival games.

All you hater Nevada fans should take time to figure out out to pace yourself. And apologize for the dumb chit you’ve slung. This team has done nothing but bust its ass and improve week over week.

That is for sure.  The rebuild at Nevada is clearly on schedule.  Would love to see the Pack get to 8 wins.  With so much of the team returning Nevada might be the favorite in the West next year.

I didn’t see any Nevada fans that were haters.  They were legitimately depressed, angry and frustrated at the lack of offense and bad play calling. I agree that if fans are ripping on the team with doom and gloom after just one bad game, they do need to step back and look at the big picture.

But they were not improving week after week as you stated. We got our asses blown out by Hawaii, we barely edged out SJSU and then we got slammed by USU, and then got slammed again by Wyoming. Play calling and the dead offense had the rest of the season in doubt. There was absolutely no reason to think they would turn it around this season. The fact that Norvell turned around the offense so quickly by calling the plays means that Mummy needs to go. He’s not a good QB coach and proven to be a bad OC. He needs to go down to FCS or lower to learn what he doesn’t know.

And coaching. The defense has been adequate all along. It’s the offense that has put in enough work to make their efforts worthwhile.

8? I’m dreaming of 9. Except for the 2010 peak, you have to go back the Rowe Mitchell/Hubbard thunder and lighting team to get us there.

Although I couldn’t help but notice how much football has changed since 2005. They wanted us to score on first or second down and everyone watching thought that was the only play.

When we closed out Fresno Thanksgiving weekend 2005 in the cold, Hubbard kneeling on the one instead of scoring was Sportscenter’s #1 play of the week.

The O was putting in the normal work, but bad play calling will hurt any O. We did have some coaching problems with the O because of all the false starts and other penalties.

Our offense was dreadful for awhile. They put in no work at all in our losses. That’s how we were the bottom 10% of offenses going into this game. Yet, we were still bowl eligible already.

Hats off to Norvell for getting two huge road wins and righting the ship.

To hell with the air raid. Run the ball, play defense, and come through on third downs; no need to revolutionize anything.

What's going to happen 'down here' in Reno  next week?

Not only is snow expected to fall clear down to the valley floors of the Sierra front (including Reno-Sparks), temperatures are going to plummet.

"There's a very high probability of having at least a couple inches of snow (in Reno)," Johnson said.

Snow is expected to start falling in town late Tuesday night and continue sporadically through the next several days. At times heavier bands of storms may set up in the area, but exactly where and when they appear is difficult to predict, Johnson said.

But as the storm moves into the region, temperatures quickly will become the primary concern.

At least it's not a night game, hopefully the maintenance people have time to get the snow off the seats.I'm taking a ice scraper and whisk broom just in case.
