Air Force Football vs CSU

Running late this week to discuss the game tonight with our Falcons driving north on I-25 to take Colorado State (CSU) in Fort Collins with a 5pm MT kickoff on ESPN2

Pro or con for the Falcons as they head into the CSU game after the re-scheduled New Mexico game and the added bye week before tonight's game? First and foremost, condolences to New Mexico on the loss of a player who's life was cut short.  While I will not discuss the situation, I send out prayers to the young man's family.  With that said, the bye gave the Falcons ample time to heal up from dings and scrapes on the team and prepare for what appears to be a CSU team coming into their own in recent weeks. On tough note on the switch, the number one defensive pass rusher AF's defensive end Jackson was supposed to be out the 1st half of the NM game but will now be out for the first half of the CSU game vs a talented CSU passing attack.  Interesting to see how this affects AF's defensive front.

CSU (4-5/3-2) has won 3 straight to include 2 on the road behind the throwing arm of QB O'Brien 6'5"/244# prototypical sized who is in his 6th start of the season and receiver Warren Jackson 6'6"/220# and an NFL prospect as he leads the MWC in receptions at this time.  While AF is #2 in the nation in rushing and #2 in the nation in 3rd down conversions, CSU's defense is #13 in stopping 3rd down conversions.  Something has to give.  Last season CSU gave up 304 combined yards to AF's fullbacks (260yrds to Fagan) and their key is to stop the run this year 'but' while AF is ranked #2 in rushing CSU is #111 in defense vs the run.

Keys are simple for the win:

- Rush the ball and maintain the time of possession  while winning the red zone battle on both sides of the ball.  If we get into the red zone we must score.

- Do not let CSU to score over the top with the pass.  Forecast call for 45 degrees by halftime, only 10% chance of precip but 10-20kts of wind which would benefit the run game.

- AF must not turn the ball over (no surprise there) but penalties or lack thereof will be key.  AF is #1 in nation in fewest penalties after 9 games...but check out CSU also after 9 games...wow.

AF has been penalized 33 times for 281 yards or 31.22ypg - our opponents? 39-258yrds or 28.7ypg                  (note: zero penalties on USU in AF vs USU...what?)

CSU has been penalized 66 times for 667 yards or 74.1ypg- their opponents? 66-534yrds or 59.3ypg

Big game....GO FALCONS

We're all a bit snake bit, trying not to let that hope creep in..................

4 years of Bobo will do that to a fanbase.  Although, this game is there for the taking.  Let's get it Rammies!

Definitely there for the taking.  Bobo seems more interested in a rested defense than a win though.  Time to unleash the offense and quit wasting plays for the sake of strategy.  Score fast and let AFA fight a 21 or better point lead.  We'll lose if the stat we're after is TOP.

Go Rams.

Few men could stand that kind of battering without bleeding from the nose, and most became nauseated as well. Ol' Steamboat put some of the toughest into the hospital for repairs."

Yessss. Now we will be the death knell to CSU's bowl eligibility

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.
