This is why AFA is really only an asset to the MWC in FB

And they are supposed to finish in the middle of the conference standings this year? That's not good.

Bad loss for the MWC. It reminds me of our debacle against ISU last year. I thought Air Force returned most of their starters?

Falcons started slowly last season before coming on in conference play.

Maybe Wyoming can actually play defense. Held ISU to 40 points and beat them by 14(and didn't even feel that close). ISU scored more in the 1st half against AF.

AF Men's Basketball Go 1-1 with win over Texas State 78-71

More at https://bit.ly/30Ms9xP

The Falcons opened the season with a surprising loss to Idaho State (ISU) on Thursday.  It was not necessarily the loss which was a surprise in itself, but how they lost this game.  On paper the Falcons won right shooting 51.9%FG and 88.9%FT's and down on rebounds only 26-31 and leading with 6 minutes left in the game?  The rest of the story is the Falcons went 1-11 from the 3-ball while ISU who went 4-24 in their loss to Wyoming went 12-29/41.9% 3pt.  AF had fouls and turnovers and let ISU's Cool (8pts vs Wyoming) go off for 41pts. Close the book and move to Game two....

….ok...Game 2 of this young season saw a different AF team on the floor versus a very talented Texas State (TSU) team that went 24-10 last year and who won their opener 103-45 over small Texas Lutheran.  Well the Falcons walked away with a solid 78-71 win at Clune Arena and it began on the defensive end and finished on the offensive end.  Excellent defense held TSU's Pearson (Sun Belt pre-season first teamer) to 8 points through the first 33 minutes of the game and he finished below his average of 19ppg with 14ppg.  Excellent defensive overall and the Falcons as a team out rebounded TSU 38-33 to include 30 defensive rebounds.

On the offensive end of the court, the Falcons were a different team.  Cuts were harder and the basket was 'bigger' as the Falcons recovered from their 1-11 outing to shoot 12-26/46% from the 3pt arc plus 16 assists on 22 made FG's.  Sid Tomes played excellent defense assigned to shutting down Pearson while storming back from a quiet offensive campaign last year to finish with a team high 19pt plus 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  The Falcons had 4 in double figures with the final starter having 9pts.  Next up for the Falcons is a trip back east to resume their rivalry with Army on November 12th and they will not be back home until the 1st of December, heading to TCU and then the Bahamas.

Air Force Women's Basketball 1-1

Our Lady Falcons opened up play with a gutsy performance but a loss to #20 ASU in a tough fought game, but it was a different story in their home opener versus NJIT where they won 68-48.  Shout out to AFA marketing as it was 'fieldtrip day' for local schools and over 1500 kids were there from as far as Pueblo to watch the game and cheer our Falcons on.

The Falcons were led by sophomore Riley Snyder's 19pts and Kaelin Immel's 18pts.  The Falcons played from baseline to baseline pressing the visitors into 24 turnovers.  The number that stuck out to be in this win was the Falcons only having 10 TOs in the game, an area they have had problems with in past years.  There always seemed to be one quarter in each loss the Falcons had that could be attributed to taking care of the ball.  This team seems so much more sure of themselves and are better at taking care of the all in this young season.  Congrats on the win. Next up AF vs Army at Clune Arena on this Wednesday 13th of November at 6:30pm.
