AAC is strong. Will 11 teams make them stronger???

Recommended Posts

Umm, why does anyone give a shit whether or not it's a "commuter school"? Whatever the phuck that is.

What I do know is commuter school or not, about 44,000/game are commuting to watch UCF home games.

Is anyone in the MWC outdrawing UCF?

Of course not. No MWC outside of Boise can even CONSISTENTLY draw 30k even when good.

Cougars fight for Dear ol' UofH

For our alma mater cheer

Fight for Houston University

For victory is near

When the going get so rough and tough

We never worry, CAUSE WE GOT THE STUFF!

So fight! Fight! Fight for Red and White!

And we will go to victory!

Lotta Coog fans dressing as empty seats these days.  Kinda pathetic for a huge school in major city.  Then again, fan support for cougar High has always been kinda sad...even when good.

Reports are D'Eriq King will transfer after all.  Cant blame him, really.  Staying would be a real waste of talent.

Just off campus is 45 minutes from the beach, close enough to count.  Nowhere in Florida is 100 miles from the beach.  It could take 45 minutes to get off campus depending on the day though.

UCF has less than 10,000 on campus beds (plus 3,000 'affliliated' beds) for a student population of 68K.  That's a commuter school.

That's simply not true.  While the typical on-campus beds only count up to just under 12,000, more than 30,000 live in the high rises on University alone, that doesn't count the high rise on Mitchell Hammock.  If you're letting the width of a four lane road + easement determine a school's commuter status then there isn't much else that can be said about this.  The population density of the UCF area is 4,000/sm, roughly the same as the city of San Diego.  Let it go.

The Aztecs have been drawing in the mid 30's the last four years or so. Not great, but okay.

Sandy Eggo is an odd place when it comes to sports. Most San Diegans are fans of the LA pro and college teams. Hell, they barely supported the Chargers.

Unfortunately, as a native of America's Finest City, in terms of our econony and sports, we are a suburb of El Lay.

Is the AAC better off with 11 teams ?

Not when your standard bearer gets beat by Tulsa.

To be fair, thats something thats a little different in the AAC.  There really is no "standard bearer".  Wasnt that long ago UCF went 0-12.  Its actually a pretty balanced league.  UCF had a couple of really exceptional years---but Houston, Cinci, Temple, Navy, Memphis, and now SMU have all "carried the flag" at some point in the leagues short history.  Heck, even Tulane is showing signs of life in Nola.   It may not be as good for building a national bell cow school, but I think the fact that the winner could really come from anywhere in any given year makes things more fun.  That parity may cost them an access bowl slot at some point---but as long as the programs take care of business in OOC---the parity wont hurt the league too much.

No offense, but 45 minutes isn't close.  UC Santa Barbara is right by the beach.  It's a 15 minute walk from most points on campus to the beach.

Did you see the Temple vs USF game last night? How many fans do you think was there? 8,000? That's in Tampa, Florida. How many people live in that area?  Wyoming, Boise, and Utah State make USF, Temple, UConn, Tulane, and Tulsa look ridiculous. SMU didn't even have a fan base til a month ago. Also, those MWC schools are not exactly in highly populated areas. Half of your conference (Have you noticed we always have to say "conference" to the AAC fans because you all don't give a shit about your actual "team".) cant draw dick even though you get better kickoff times and you are in high populated regions.

Hell, Houston is only the forth most popular team in your neighborhood. That's laughable.

I've seen like 4 aac games this year and combined attendance was probably like 15000 for all 4

Gainesville is 45 mins from the beach on the Gulf side. I wouldn't say it was "by the beach" by any means.

Based on that, UHouston is near the beach.

The fact that the AAC has 4 ranked teams right now, and UCF and Houston aren't included among them, speaks volumes about the league's breadth.

No offense, but just because a school is closer to the beach than UCF doesn’t mean that to 98% of the country it’s not still close to the beach.  And also no offense, but Santa Barbara beaches give you hypothermia and parasites.

None taken.  Santa Barbara doesn't have hurricane issues either, which offsets dealing with the cool waters of the Pacific.

Getting back on track here...
