UH’s Melquise Stovall dismissed

Recommended Posts

After that foul right before halftime on the kick return he was taken out of the game. I seen him walking around without a helmet and was wondering why he wasn’t in the game and us going with James Phillips instead. Sucks because he was the best receiver in that game up to that point and was the most dynamic returner we had in years.

We have other good receivers but his loss in experience is going to hurt. And we had no return game without him in. Guessing some of the promising freshman like Lincoln Victor and James Phillips are going to see a lot more time when Sharsh isn’t in

He seem to have an attitude problem from the start. The personal foul was the last straw from Rolo. He flipped the balll to an Air Force player after he was tackled and said something to him. Not sure what he said but the refs didn’t like it, thus the flag.

althought he was the most talented receiver we had he really doesn’t fit into the run and shoot scheme where the receivers run current routes to get the other receivers open. Selfish player where if he wasn’t the primary receiver he wouldn’t do his part. Not a team player. Oh course this is just my opinion but it showed.

it actually started on the TD he scored prior.  When he scored, he started jawing at AF #3,  Tre' Bugg.  After the timeout, the TV feed showed the head referee over at the Hawaii bench talking to Stovall and the coaches.  So, when he flipped the ball to the AF player; it apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back for the ref, and apparently the coach as well.

Did he make a comment about Rolovich's wife or something? Punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime here.

Rolo really values how their locker room is along with team cohesion. He wants players to represent the team and state well. “Live Aloha, Play Warrior” is his saying for a reason.

He may be a solid athlete, but maybe Rolo didn’t expect the personality that came along with it when he signed. This last game may have been what Rolo said enough is enough. Especially if something happened in the locker room at half.

I do wonder if Stovall joins his younger brother at Nevada next year

Good point, if he has a personality problem that could develop into a locker room cancer then it's best to get rid of him and be done with it.

Apparently he left Cal after his freshman year also. Why? I don’t know.

I believe this will have the opposite affect.  Stovall wasn’t a problem player in the locker room.

Who?

Former 4* WR Melquise Stovall.  Played as a true freshman at California in 2016 with 7 starts, 415 yards receiving, and 3 TDs. He redshirted in 2017  (injury).

Then transferred to Riverside City College in 2018 for his R-Sophomore season.

Then transferred to Hawaii as a R-JR this year.  He had 18 receptions for 248 yards and 4 TDs. (5th on the team in yards receiving)

I don't think it's possible for him to transfer to Nevada unless he graduates - which doesn't seem like the track he's on.  He'll have to go to the FCS or XFL.

Supposedly the rumor from another board is that he wasn't much of an academic and was struggling through school (which may effect our APR in the end). Will likely end up trying to go pro.

The team will struggle with the return game the rest of the year. Likely a lot more fair catch calls than compared to when Stovall was in.

I just hope we see more of Lincoln Victor, and James Phillips at his old spot with less Sharsh...

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.
