He should have known, denigrating Republicans and pissing on "racist" Americans is the only acceptable form of free speech these days.

Quote

“We have great respect for the history and culture of China and hope that sports and the NBA can be used as a unifying force to bridge cultural divides and bring people together,” it said.

Really?  which part of their history do you "respect"?  The Cultural Revolution where millions were imprisioned and put to death for the crime of thinking the wrong way?  That was a good one and in-line with the NBA's current sensibilities.  How about  "The Great Leap Forward" where 10's of millions of peasants were intentionally starved to death.

Suck ass communist Toady shitheads.  Bend the knee you scum

Commissioner Silver: "please buy our official NBA licensed products, but just don't mess with the man......"

Drone footage has emerged showing police leading hundreds of blindfolded and shackled men from a train in what is believed to be a transfer of inmates in Xinjiang.

The video, posted anonymously on YouTube last week, shows what appear to be Uighur or other minorities wearing blue and yellow uniforms, with cleanly shaven heads, their eyes covered, sitting in rows on the ground and later being led away by police. Prisoners in China are often transferred with handcuffs and masks covering their faces.

The one time where it would actually be appropriate for the president to comment on sports, and I'm guessing we're gonna get crickets. Or maybe he will even bow down even further to Xi by criticizing Morey and the NBA because they're meanie weenies to him and don't want to come eat big macs at the White House after winning titles.

The NBA should tell China to pound sand publicly and threaten to censure the owner of the Nets. You wanna do business in America? Learn to deal with free speech.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Actually, it's not the beginning. Been happening in the movies for a while.

I share this exact thought. This is probably the one and only time the President should make a comment that involves sports. China doesn't even bother to hide their dirty laundry anymore.

China getting into a groove. With Comedy Central's track record, expect to see the episode pulled from all streaming services.

Tsai is Taiwanese FWIW.

I found Tsai's comments to be way worse than Morey's. You wanna talk about using the NBA to push a political agenda... referring to the Hong Kong protesters as a separatist movement, and suggesting that it is the NBA's responsibility to recognize and defend China's "territorial integrity" and "sovereignty over her homeland?"

There are plenty of people in Taiwan who bend over for China. Even if you agree with China's position, eff that guy speaking out against Morey while using communist-backed corporate dollars to push the national agenda of a foreign power. And eff the NBA for cowering to all of this.

He may be Taiwanese by birth, but he made his billions helping to found Alibaba - the (mainland) Chinese Amazon.  He's not going to rock the boat.

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
