Getting out of Afghanistan completely is about as dumb of a move you can make. It doesn’t mean we have to do the fighting. We need people there to gather intelligence and keep an eye on radical groups that could be a threat to us. The big reason Bin Laden and the Taliban got so powerful before 911 is because we didn’t have anyone there keeping an eye on them and to help what was then the Northern Alliance.

We need some special forces to remain to gather intelligence, support and teach the Afghan troops how to fight and create strategy’s to fight lawless groups. If things got way out of hand quickly, we’d already have a secured base ready to bring troops in to carry out necessary operations.

Trump is making a dumb mistake just to say he fulfilled a campaign promises that never made total sense to begin with.

In the 90's Bill Clinton and Congress cashed Ronald Reagan's peace dividend and closed a bunch of US bases.  Time to exit Afghanistan.

Yes, we know that you're a +++++ing warmonger. Sit down, shut up, and let the adults have a conversation without you smearing your finger paints all over the place.

I think your emotional disdain affected your comprehension.  He stated we don't have to do the fighting.  As is often the case in life, there are trade-offs. Convert does make some good points, I just think 90%+ of Americans are tired of it and the limited future benefits of current status are less than required investments in resources,  including blood.

The Russians were in Afghanistan for what seemed forever also and accomplished nothing. We are in the same boat. Time to get out. Yes there will be consequences. These wars have had a lot to do with our debt. We need to pick and choose our battles and which are the most strategic and important. Afghanistan has run its course.
