2/3ds of Americans think the EC should go

I'm not the one saying "they'll be in all the small states", you are. You tell me. What will draw them to those places? You're the one saying they'll head out to those places that they don't visit now.

States are irrelevant with a popular vote, dipshit.  Massachusetts is not all that big, but Boston is.  Iowa is small, Des Moines is a population center.  Colorado, not a massive state; Denver, a larger city.  They'll go to where people are, and that includes pretty much all states, except the Dakotas, and frankly who gives a shit if they get to see a rally or not.

They only have a motivation right now to visit swing states, which a minority.  With a popular vote, they'll have motivation to visit areas all over the country, not just swing states.

So why would they go out to areas with small population then, as you claim they would under your system?

Why would they spend time in a place like Des Moines, with all 600K residents it has, when they could instead spend time in Chicagoland with the potential millions in votes it holds? All your proposal will do is result in the rural areas being ignored even more than they are already.

Perhaps they should be ignored more.  People in rural areas are glorified and included to an outsized degree, and lots of inner-city residents are totally ignored.

This is all code for "they should cover us poor whites more" anyway.  Enjoy your Klan meeting.

Wait, I thought your plan was going to be instituted so "everyone has a voice", and now it seems like you're pushing it to silence them, suggesting they should be "ignored more".

Thanks for showing us the true goal of your plan, Komrade. Maybe you can go find some dead Jews to make fun of this afternoon.

Nope. It's so everyone has an equal voice.  One person, one vote, not "hey, all you candidates, come to this white-ass county fair and eat dick foods for the cameras, cuz EC!"

White ruralites are NOT ignored.  They're given outsized influence.  That's one reason we blow cash on farm subsidies to make our food poisoned with corn syrup, and make weed illegal.  To cater to scared, elderly rural whites.

And as I said before, the current setup has led to the richest, most powerful nation in world history, with one exception owing to its morally reprehensible cause. Find another system that is comparable and I’ll wait.

You want them silenced and or killed off. Thanks for reiterating what you've already told us numerous times.

You're right, they aren't ignored. And that owes itself to the Electoral College system. You want that done away with. You want to silence a large swath of the country.

Hey guys look! A compromise between late 18th century non-woke people is still working better than anything comparable in history. The reasons why it’s still working doesn’t have anything to do with the partially racist reasons the compromise happened, but still. Maybe those guys who came up with it were a tad smarter than the racist slave owning jerkoffs than it appears.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Say what you want about the kids these days argument, but the greatest generation definitely had scarier and more competent dictators.

Hamilton is woke now, dude.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Yeah, but Madison and his mentor especially were the villains.

Eh, give it time. They were in the vogue a while ago. The kids will think they're cool again at some point.

I think the point of the thread is this: The popular vote thinks the popular vote should have the say.

The Republicans (who are old, white and racist, per Orange) think there should be protections against the "tyranny of the majority."

I asked the internet why we have the electoral college. Look at how savvy I am:

For all the reasons already stated here and on numerous other threads. A Representative Republic ensures the minority doesn't get overrun by the majority. It gives states equal standing. Direct Democracy is nothing more than mob rule. The Framers may have been flawed men, but they weren't stupid.

Hold AOC's beer for a few more years.
