Yes he focused on angry white voters all over the country. He was very diverse in his messaging.

You are right that most countries have persecuted people in the past, however when Lawlor points to the electoral college as a way of protecting freedom and prosperity in this country, he's leaving out the people have been persecuted in the past, many of which are still marginalized under this system.

Yes the big cities get slightly more power in one branch of government, though the gap in the various branches is not comparable.

Each of LA County's 25 seats represent about 425,000 people, while Wyoming's seat represents 577,000.

Each electoral vote in Wyoming represents about 193,000 people. while in California each vote represents about 720,000 people

Each senator in Wyoming represents about 290,000 people, while in California each senator represents almost 20 million.

Are you really going to tell me that people in LA have nothing to complain about? Where's the checks and balances on Wyoming?

He focused on disgruntled people from multiple camps, which indeed included bigots. But to suggest that Wisconsin, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Ohio suddenly collectively rediscovered remembered they’re all racists after they voted Obama in for two consecutive terms, I don’t know how far this conversation can go.

Look, it’s obvious you don’t believe in a republican (small “r”) system of checks and balances, you want an all out majority for every elected branch of the government. For you to get what you desire, you’re going to have to:

A. Go through the proper process of convincing 2/3 of the states to agree with you.

B. Join up with @sactowndog to start a revolution.

C. Migrate to a different country that is more aligned with your world and political views.

We have the electoral college because some dude in suburban Los Angeles that drives a BMW and eats his steak sandwich at lunch has no clue what it’s like for a guy in Wyoming to go out, hunt, kill, and clean an elk carcass so his family has meat for the winter. Two different lifestyles that both should have an equal voice in how our country is run.

So why should a very small but densely populated area wield so much power over ~99% of the land mass?

Because, for the ten gazilliionth time, land masses don't vote, dipshit.

People do.

For +++++'s sake.  If this mythical person even exists anymore, he's doing it for sport.

You're so dumb.

That’s how many people in the Alaskan wilderness survive.  It’s not for sport, it’s their way of life.

Right, and we need guns in schools to ward off grizzly bears.

Please stop catering to crazy people on this board.  It's a bad look.

How am I catering to crazy people by stating a fact?  You said those mythical people don’t exist I said the do. I don’t see how that’s catering to crazy.

because you defend the position as if it's statistically significant, and worth shaking our national elections.  You and I both know those people number in the dozens, if that.

So the 320,999,999 people in this country need to cater to the 1 dude field-stripping an elk in Wyoming to survive the winter?  Shut.  The.  Fuck.  Up.

This is the last time I’m asking.  Stop bypassing the profanity filters.  If you don’t like them, you don’t have to post here.  But I have them there for a reason.  Obey the simple rules of the forum or your account will eventually be suspended.  As I said before once in awhile is fine.  But doing it every day will not work.

So why should a very small but densely populated area wield so much power over ~99% of the land mass? I don’t see how it’s equitable to force a moderately populated area to live under the thumb of a society that shares very few of the same day to day issues. If the EC were eliminated, a handful of large cities would control the legislative agenda and policies for the entire country.

Lastly, humans have migrated to areas where they have better alignment with their world/religious views, economic needs, and personal well being for, oh I don’t know, ever since we crawled out of the sea. If you’re so against migration a better future, you’re obviously a Trump voter.

I care more about people than land mass. I don't want big cities to have all the power, I want them to have proportionate power. I want everyone's vote to matter equally, you want certain people to matter less in the political process.

What the +++++ are you even talking about here? I'm not against migration, I'm against people being forced to migrate if they want to be counted fairly.

The migration point is moot though, because you're trying to have it both ways. You're saying " who gives a shit if people in big cities get screwed,  they can move to small towns if they're mad". Yet the same reasoning doesn't apply to small town folks moving to big cities.

Exit polls showed a lack of diversity in his electorate.  Him doing a better job of running up the score with with white men than past Republicans doesn't change that.

I support a republic over a direct democracy.  I just want that republic built fairly.

GTFOH with that "if you dont like it, leave"nonsense. People are allowed to complain about things in their country.

This is a message board. No one is going to force any change here. We're arguing about things because we're bored and have nothing better to do. Not because we think it's going to change anything

Let’s stop the bullshit, you only care about the people on your team who agree with you. Consolidating power is what this is all about and we all know it. Removing checks and balances and providing the leftists in a handful of cities with unchecked authority is the objective.

You just said you didn’t believe people should move in order to find a place that is more suited to their beliefs and needs. Those were your words, not mine. If you go back on this, you need to back off from your absolute majority stance. I’m not the one contradicting myself, you are.

Yes, the Trump electorate is largely pasty White guys with dress shorts like Convert, I’m not disputing that. What I’m saying is not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist. His support base includes bigots but is not entirely made up of them. There are likely millions of people who voted for Trump who are not bigots, I happen to know a few.

Umm, I provided three options to remove or get away from the evil EC. You only got triggered by one of them. What am I saying, we both know you got triggered by all three options. Lol

Anyway, I’m traveling this week. Not going to be able to regularly respond to this tit for tat as if I were a Burgerville USA fry cook.

Big cities can have all the power over big cities.  That is why there are municipal governments, county governments and state governments.

You want to take all that away and make the whole country run like a big city because?   I have no understanding of why.

No one in Wyoming is preventing California from passing crazy emission standards that would make no sense in Wyoming where there is no significant air pollution, or whatever other socialist shit they want.    Why should Wyoming have to put up with that?

You're the one who wants to repress the vote of people you disagree with. Let's not pretend that you dont have your own biases here.

I dont believe people should be forced to move if they want to be counted equally.  Try to keep up.

But Trump still won by only appealing to one demographic. The electoral college does not force candidates to appeal to diverse groups.

No, you didnt provide shit. We all know none of this is politically likely, but its still okay to have an opinion on it.

Yes, we can see by your post count that you're too busy and important  to be a regular here

Stop saying Trump only appealed to one demographic.  That’s a beyond stupid assertion.
