CSU completed their 2019-20 roster with VCU transfer PG P.J. Byrd

Recommended Posts

Byrd was a 3-star rated 14 in Texas, 35th best PG nationally, and 211 overall in Class of 2018.  Was also recruited by Boise State.  He played about 10 minutes per game at VCU as their backup PG in his freshman year.  It was reported that he will get a waiver and be eligible to play right away in the 2019-20 season; we'll see about that.  He will have 3 years of eligibility regardless.

This was the final scholarship available this year.  Rams return 5 of their top 6 (Carvacho, Martin, Edwards, Moore, Thistlewood), add five freshmen (Stevens, Tonje, Roddy, Thomas, Moors), a solid JuCO walk-on, and possibly Byrd.  Two other transfers (Kirk from Ohio and Sargiunis from Georgia) will sit out the upcoming season.

Can't wait till drill us again this year.  I was hoping Edwards would get it together but....

Not sure what’s going on in Edwards’ program.  He did add a couple of good preps from Colorado.  Even with the loss of Justin James I think they’ll be improved this season, depending on the health of Hunter Maldonado.

By the way, Byrd did get his waiver to play immediately which really adds depth and experience to the backcourt.
