3* 6’2” 180 CB from Fresno. Had offers to Oregon State, Fresno State, BYU, and UNLV.

he wanted to take visits and we told him to get lost, then told him again when he wanted back onboard iirc.   Good player, we just have no luck with Edison kids.    Probably a safety in college though.

We lost a local kid to Reno and left us scratching our heads. Some kids just want to see something new or move away, can’t blame them. This means we probably don’t get Rodney Robinson, who might be Fresno or UNLV bound.

Expecting about 6 more commits soon as well. Staff did a good job keeping them under wraps this long.

You guys beat us to Dallas Branch. Was hoping to land him

If all goes according to plan, we should be landing 2 of the top 8 players from the state of Nevada (both currently unannounced though) Gotta love coach Horton’s recruiting.

SDSU is becoming DBU.

We seem to land a lot of db talent lately.

Good article about their recruiting success. Rocky believes the early signing period has helped them land the recruits they want.  In the past loads of kids were being poached by the P5 schools.

Our 2017 and 2018 classes were in the middle of the stadium vote with so many questions about where we’d be playing and what the future of our program would even look like (playing at Petco, not having a stadium, etc).

This 2020 class, assuming they RS, will play 1/2 of their career in a brand new stadium. I expect that to be a big impact on future classes.

Picked up Ball State graduate TE Nolan Givan. Decent numbers and film, but looks to be more of a depth guy I think. We have a lot of talent at TE, but they’re young. Givan has played in 36 games and scored TDs in games at Notre Dame and BIG10 opponents.

Added Hunter Kaupiko another linebacker from Nevada. Givan is an Hback will likely replace Houston. He had 51 receptions in two and half years(missed seven games one year) WE got a commitment from Isaiah McElvane an athlete and a HS tight end Greene and a JC lineman Sebastian Hernandez. he will likely redshirt this year, since we lose three OT's in 2021.

Living in Utah, I have witnessed how the poly Pipeline has turned doormats into winners. Ron McBride started that pipeline when he was the O-line coach at Arizona. That pipeline has helped turn an fb program that was borderline d.o.a all the way to contenders in the Pac-12.

It helps to have some Poly position coaches as well to help with the recruiting. It's a cultural thing with them moreso, than an opportunity.

Looking through the linemen, my first reaction was, "That's a lot of beef for a bunch of 18 year olds." That's usually the size they become after five years of development.

Scary.

Let's hope Coach Schmidt can "Coach them up."

Well we just added GT  transfer Lucas Johnson at QB. Curious guy was primarily a triple option guy. The new OC feels it will be 50/50 pass run. quick tempo.

I'm just not excited by the Johnson commitment. The guy dissed us once already and then went on to accomplish very little at GA Tech partially due to an injury problem which may not be entirely in the past.

But one thing this staff must be credited for is trying to bring in HS kids. Maybe it's my imagination but it seems they've now got literally hundreds of scholarship offers out. I have no problem offering some studs who are much more likely to accept offers they've received from multiple SEC schools for example because I'm pretty sure those are designed to act as potential bouncebacks for the future. However, what concerns me is they've also offered a handful of what appear to be diamond-in-the-rough types and if they all of a sudden get acceptances from several of those at once, it won't be a good look. (I would prefer they wait to offer that kind of kid.)

Boom goes the dynamite.
