SDSU 2020 recruiting

Recommended Posts

https://247sports.com/Player/Julian-Ripley-46084809/ To be announced soon according to a source who would know.

He needs to add weight but his video is impressive and being half Samoan, gaining weight this upcoming season and then perhaps during a redshirt year shouldn't be a problem.

Unless the kid is a schlub that nobody else will want, getting a first commitment can be tough and Ripley is no schlub.

Boom goes the dynamite.

last years giant El Foldo has done us no good,.ON the bright size this is going to be a small class. Next year when the stadium is further along that will help if we have a good year.

Joquarri Price, DE/LB from Mesa (ASU) Arizona: https://247sports.com/player/joquarri-price-46084207/

Doesn't say so there but Price indicated he had also just received an offer from Iowa State.

SDSU with a big recruiting weekend this week with no game.

Reportedly 10 guys visiting including:

-- 4* RB Darvon Hubbard (Willow Canyon, AZ) a former Ohio St commit whose top three is LSU, Utah, and SDSU.  Offers from Alabama, Purdue, Arizona, Auburn, Georgia, Iowa St, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan St, Minnesota, Mississippi St, Nebraska, and Tennessee

-- (Haven't confirmed this one yet but heard it from two different sources and if he comes it's probably for a free vacation to SD a la Ruben Foster circa 2013) 5* TE Darnell Washington (Desert Pines, NV) listed by 247 as the 11th best player in the nation and #1 TE in the country.  Offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee, Florida, AZ, ASU, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida St, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Miss St, Ohio St, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn St, Texas, USC, Texas A&M, among others.  Only chance we have here is that he says he wants to go to a program that uses their TE's a lot and he has pretty much ruled out any air raid-style spread teams.

-- 4* WR Lavon Bunkley-Shelton (Junipero Serra, CA) Offers from USC, ASU, Nebraska, Ohio St, Texas, Washington, AZ, BC Colorado, Florida St, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Utah

-- 3* CB Rejzohn Wright (Laney College, CA) Offers from Oregon St, UCLA, and Colorado

I'm willing to bet that not one of them signs with SDSU but getting them on campus can't hurt.

With Chance Nolan having now committed to Oregon State, it seems that Sears is indeed going to be an Aztec. However, until he actually signs an LOI, I'm not going to count my chickens. After all, SDSU is notorious for being unable to obtain quarterbacks who are better than mediocre.

As to Sears not wanting to play in Horton's offense, maybe Rocky and Jeffwinkle have led him to think SDSU could have a new OC next season.

that's a good get but i have zero confidence in rocky having him do anything other than hand off and look good on the sideline

I get the skepticism but would reply that Rocky's future at SDSU depends on opening up the office.

The reason is that we will never get the NY6 slot with such impotence and attendance will therefore continue to decline, something which will be intolerable once the bills start coming due on the new stadium.

Rocky will go with whatever works. Ball control passing game with run most likely.

3* 6’2” 180 CB from Fresno. Had offers to Oregon State, Fresno State, BYU, and UNLV.

He is the only player from Last Chance U this year (Season 5 is at Laney College) rated by the recruiting services.  So he should also be one of the stars on the Netflix show when it comes out this season.
