Bootsy Collins?

Bootsy was a great bassist, but I honestly think George Duke was better.

Really? I love Joy Division/New Order, but Peter Hook really isn't anything all that super special as a bassist. He does really well for the band(s) he plays/played in, but I'm every bit the bassist that he is, and I'm nothing all that special. I suppose his greatest talent was being ridiculously consistent. He's probably influential in some of the higher melodic bass lines that have become more popular over the years, but again I don't find them to be anything all that special.

"Age of Consent" might be my favorite song of all time. And Sumner's guitar solo on the song is probably my favorite guitar solo of all time. So, I'm not the person these types of lists are made for?

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Larry Graham deserves a mention in the funk bass genre.

Absolutely. He was very good too. Still, George Duke was the king of that genre IMO.

Phil Collen just rose up to #1 on my board...

They were in Boise last year and then three years ago.  They went to Freak Alley three years ago.
