Representative Omar filed fraudulent tax returns

Why would you care unless you assume they are cheating on their taxes. Also, you would probably need ten years of record to get any kind of comprehensive knowledge about their financial situation. How would it influence your vote?

Because someone is far more likely to act in personal financial interest than in the interests of others, which isn't a problem until that person is in charge of public policy for 320 million people.  It's called conflict-of-interest.  Is that really a foreign concept to you?

So one elected official with fishy tax returns is OK, but the other isn't? All because of teams and shit?

You are probably talking about most of Congress not just the president and his cabinet. Many of these people go into Congress middle class and come out wealthy. Lobbyists have a way of feathering their nest so to speak to gain their votes. Until we get rid of Congressmen accepting money (campaign donations, wink, wink) from lobbyists there will always be a conflict of interest.

Yeah, except the president in this case is breaking 50 years of precedent, and appears to be profiting from the presidency.  Stop deflecting from your hero's crimes.

I thought you guys were into Trump because he wasn't a typical politician, yet you, and him,  excuse his behaviors time and time again as being typical.

Except he's worth a billion less than before his election so I don't see how he's profiting. He has more people boycotting his properties and business' than before his election. Making it law is the whole point of this thread. Precedent doesn't compell anything.

I don't think you understand how this works.  His time in office will be spent losing money because of his soft "divestment" from the Trump Organization, and then his patronage will come home to roost after office, if he's not in jail.

Moreover, he makes MILLIONS at his properties that he wouldn't otherwise make thanks to the government footing the incidentals for the massive crew of people that follow the president everywhere.

I agree. Full financial disclosure for all federally elected officials.

A tax return wont really reveal that much information.  Their CPA's workpapers would be much more telling. Those belong to the CPA though and they won't give them up.

There is little white guilt with Somalis in Minneapolis.  They have been there for 20-30 years.  No one back home mentioned some monumental white-led rally to vote her in.  She just won.

And there is a difference between Minnesota liberal and western states liberal in terms of scale and extremism. They aren't swinging dildos and wearing vagina hats all over TC.

In general I agree about Midwest versus West liberal divergence.  But Minnesotans are whacky.

Do explain.

Minnesota has a lot of people with Scandinavian ancestry. Finns, Swedes, Norwegians, etc. I have a ton of relatives there. They are not like Cali progressives at all. Most are very conservative. My only explanation is their ancestors were from quasi socialist countries and they kept the same traits.

Trump donates his salary back to government agencies. Yeah, he is a selfish prick.  SMH
