I'm calling out JDGaucho and the UCSB Basketball Team

OK, @jdgaucho  is probably one of the smartest basketball fans on the board.

He's got extensive knowledge of all of the West Coast college basketball scene.  (He knows more about the MWC and WCC than I do).   Probably discusses basketball more than even @ph90702

JDGaucho --- is this the year that the BIG WEST finally goes big?   What about UCSB?  What is their schedule going to look like?   Will the Gauchos run the table against the MWC and WCC this year?

You've talked big in the past, but I won't be a believer until (if) the BIG WEST gets 2 schools in the NCAA tourney.

Well @#1Stunner , UCSB has done well vs the WCC in the Joe Pasternack era.  Beat USF last season, whereas BYU was swept by the Dons.  Went 3-0 vs the WCC in 2017-2018.  Could be worse.

You know what they say about glass houses and all....

I feel like the UCSB and BYU fans are cousins.  Let me guess, you love ice cream too?

Do you know which WCC, PAC12 and MWC schools UCSB is playing next season?

More importantly, is this the year the Big West gets 2 schools in the Tournament?

Yes, I do love ice cream.  In fact, UCSB even had their own flavor called Batter Blast at the 2016 College World Series.

As far as WCC scheduling goes I'd expect two of Pepperdine, USD and Santa Clara. MWC, a home game vs Wyoming and then... no idea.

TCU's ice cream looked good too.

OK, you just converted another person to cheering on UCSB.  Even against the WCC.

And.....This just might be the year that the Big West goes big and gets two teams in the Dance.

Does Santa Barbara still have a basketball program?

The Big West could be a 2 bid league next year.

Depends on Hawaii, in my opinion.  UCSB is probably the class of the league.

Let me tell you something.

@jdgaucho  knew about Grand Canyon U years before anyone else even paid attention.   He watches this closely.  And he knows his stuff.

I just see in them, a new dynamic.  Something fresh that most D1 conferences should accept.

I will say @#1Stunner, that Joe Pasternack has increased the level of talent coming to UCSB both via hs signees and transfers.  If he stays through the 2020-2021 season (and I think he will) this is our potential lineup then.

6'9 Amadou Sow - jr

6'10 Miles Norris - redshirt soph

6'5 Brandon Cyrus - redshirt sr

6'4 JaQuori McLaughlin - sr

6'0 DeVearl Ramsey - sr

Five starters who were all rated at least 3* recruits in high school.  Ramsey and McLaughlin were both 4*  top-150 Rivals recruits in 2016; McLaughlin was the Mr. Basketball in Washington that year.  Transfers from Nevada and Oregon State respectively

Norris was a consensus 4* recruit and ranked #81 overall by ESPN in 2018.  Transferred from Oregon

Granted it's transfer heavy (Sow the only signee out of hs) but McLaughlin and Ramsey will be entering their third year at UCSB and Norris will have three years of eligibility.  The starting five will be relatively loaded.

OK.   That is pretty good.

Is there any other similarly stacked teams in the Big West next year?

You’ll be on probation by 2020.
