Convicts for Trump!  Make prison great again!

:Clapping:

Anyone who somehow thinks it's unfair for an incarcerated felon not to be able to vote needs their head examined so the only reason I can think of that Sanders and Harris want to let them do so is the belief they would get a bigger percentage of the criminal vote than their Republican opponent.

And if that is their thinking, they're probably right.

Boom goes the dynamite.

I don't really see this as that big of a deal

People who are serving time for breaking major laws, who are being punished, voting on people and proposals that effect law. Yeah, a smart idea...

Are they no longer effected by politicians when they're in prison or when they get out?

You don't get the point. They are serving a punishment. They are being penalized for violating a law of society, therefore removed from society for a specified time. They shouldn't be able to influence law while serving for a violation of a law

Tough crap. They decided to violate a major law. You want to give them rewards in prison for bad behavior? BS. You want a rapist voting on laws affecting rape? You want murders voting on a law regarding murder? You want an embezzler voting on finance law? I garauntee you wouldn't

The results of elections effect the unborn at least as much as any prisoner.  More than a million of them are put to death each year.

Should they get a vote?>

Committing a felony also includes not being allowed to own a gun and not being allowed to vote.  They lose other rights as well.

So you think murder and rape will be legalized if this happens?

If there are actually enough felons in prison to swing an election we've +++++ed up enough as a country to deserve to have the elections swung

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

We're way past time for significant criminal justice reform and an end to the ill-fated war on drugs. There is absolutely no reason why we should have both the highest prison population as well as the highest incarceration rate in the world.

Quote

"I think the right to vote is inherent to our democracy," Sanders said at a CNN town hall. "Yes, even for terrible people, because once you start chipping away, you're running down a slippery slope."

I think handing out voting rights to people who categorically should not have them is much more of a slippery slope. Next they will be advocating for non-citizens to have the right to vote.
