The national championship match will pit Hawaii against Long Beach State at the Pyramid, televised on Saturday by ESPN2 at 5:00 p.m. PST.  The teams have already met three times this season and have gone five sets each time, with Hawaii winning the Big West championship match played in Honolulu and LBSU winning the two Big West regular season matches played in Long Beach.  It will be interesting to see whether the Warriors can finally overcome the Beach's home court advantage (42 straight wins at the Pyramid dating back to March 26, 2016).

Regardless of the outcome it's nice to have a Division I sport in which no Power 5 team even made it to the national semifinals.

Um LBSU won the big west regular season "championship" and Hawaii won the big west tourney "championship". It is far more impressive to go 10-0 in the best MVB conference than to go 2-0 in a tourney.

Saturday will be fun. Will watch it in person and then catch the dvr of the ESPN2 broadcast after.

Tournament championship comes with the trophy and NCAA auto-bid.  Regular season championship doesn't.  Just sayin'.

Easy when there are no power 5 (I mean 6) schools who sponsor it.

The team Hawaii beat in the semis is where I got my master's degree.  Little (D2 in other sports) Catholic school southwest of Chicago.

Back to your regularly scheduled trash talking....

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Penn State, Ohio State, Stanford, USC, UCLA... who between them have won 30 of the 49 national titles contested since 1970.

Little known fact, San Diego St won the national title back in 1973.

Go BEACH!!!

Back to back national championships.

Next year we fall back to earth though. Hawaii could still be a contender for the NC though.

Congratulations.  LBSU was more confident and played their game.  UH didn't and it cost them.

Very impressive performances by DiFalco and Tuaniga.
