Why streaming is a big deal for MW's next media rights

Recommended Posts

Haven't shared here in a while but the latest podcast I did over at MW Wire talks about the AAC media rights deal and what it means to the Mountain West. I contend streaming is the next big thing to get paid. AAC dumped a ton of content on ESPN+ and go look at what the Big 12 just did by getting $40M through '24 by putting one football game per team per year on ESPN+ (ex: OU and Texas) and about 75 hoops games. The big chunk of change comes from keeping the football title game on ESPN/ABC, but still interesting to see going with streaming.

I think the MW should stop giving away content on Stadium and Facebook for free, because is controlling kick teams and no money in exchange for exposure worth it? I don't think so.

Here is the link to listen to the podcast.
