How much longer are we going to sit by and tolerate the mass killings and assaults?

Recommended Posts

I raised this issue last year and dammit I'll raise it again! How much longer are we going to stand by and let these mass atrocities happen?

  • 88,000 preventable deaths in the US alone and an estimated 3.3 million worldwide, each and every year
  • An estimated $250 billion economic burden to the American economy, each and every year
  • 5.1 percent of the burden of disease and injury worldwide (139 million disability-adjusted life-years)
  • More than 60% of sexual assaults are committed by men who have been drinking alcohol

Meanwhile, our government is being bought by the Big Liquor lobby so they'll turn a blind eye to these problems:

While people are dying and getting raped, Big Liquor is profiting.

So for all those selfish disgusting people out there, every time you open a bottle, someone dies or gets raped. @Akkula, @sebasour, @Mano, @Boise fan, @UNLV2001, @DoubleBlueGold, @sactowndog, @edluvar, @RoscoesDad, @mysfit, and @Rocket .. are you all with me? I mean, the country has banned and confiscated alcohol before and it solved everything right?

Discuss.

I take my inspiration from Ben Franklin.  To Hell with stats!

Come on, Ben Franklin could have never envisioned a future where Keystone Light would be available in a 30 case.

Not to mention, alcohol is especially cruel to the MWC's Mountain Division.

I'm sure the fact that map mirrors the one on p. 9 of the following link is entirely coincidental:

Boom goes the dynamite.

Good point. Alcohol has become a modern day Andrew Jackson to the Native American community.

I wonder what an obesity map overlay would show.  It is just surprising to see the southern and midwest states being that low, as many of those states are some alcohol smashers.  With cancers being included, I wonder if eating yourself into cancer would soak up some of the stats.

Because how on earth is a state with LSU and the French Quarter in it that low in alcohol deaths?

They handle their liquor like champs.

One of my favorite pastimes used to be driving home from Billings on a late night up a rural highway, and watching the lights coming my way, them swerving the whole time. Kind of adds a whole new element to driving up there.

The number of alcohol related deaths in Montana isn't surprising, between the long spaces in between towns (where bars are), and as alluded to earlier, the large amount of Indian reservations in the state.

Until the rest of your states adopt a reasonable common sense .05 BAC limit this needless slaughter will never end.

Senseless BAC's laws will only hurt the law-abiding citizens.  The criminals will still get their hands on stuff to go over .05
