Does UCLA move quickly to get Cronin before VA Tech does, or do they wait until the FF is over and talk to Bennett and/or Beard?

Speculation is they are going to turn their attention to Bennett again and also Beard. Personally I don't think either of them are going to leave for UCLA. Then someone brought up the next set of candidates after that could be Cronin, maybe St. Mary's head coach Randy Bennett and some dropping Earl Watson's name in there

Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard has withdrawn his name from consideration for the Virginia Tech job.

St. John's AD says that Chris Mullin is their coach (there is some scuttle that Mullin said he wanted to be bought out if he was going to resign which St. John's didn't want to do)

North Carolina Central is expected to sign head coach LeVelle Morton to a contract extension.

Tennessee Tech has hired Alabama associate head coach John Pelphrey as head coach.

Buffalo names associate head coach Jim Whitesell head coach.

UMBC head coach Ryan Odom withdraws name from Virginia Tech coaching search.

College of Southern Idaho head coach Jared Phay appears to be back in the running for the Idaho st head coaching position

Gregg Marshall reportedly has turned down the head coaching job at Arkansas.

Reports are that Chris Beard could end up in a bidding war for his services between Texas Tech, UCLA and Arkansas as UCLA and Arkansas are looking at him for their head coaching positions.

Been around for every UCLA coaching search post Wooden.  Wrote back when the job opened they were going to strike out several times and they have.  As usual they’ll end up with something like their 4,5, 6 candidate which most of their fan base will groan about.  It just isn’t that great of a job where top flight coaches who are in good shape at their present job are going to want to leave for.

... so maybe it's time they bring back Jim Harrick.  After all, He is the only other head coach not named Wooden who's won a national championship at UCLA.

At this point, I think they are possibly at that point already. Read on twitter this guy said that they would go after Pitino, Bennett, Beard and Dixon first. Then if they can't get any of those, which I don't see them doing, they go to their second tier candidates who the highest one is Cronin followed by St. Mary's coach. Quite a drop off there

In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Heard Rick Barnes, Lon Kruger, and Bruce Pearl are all options for UCLA. Still could be waiting to back a brinks truck up to Bennett or Beards front door.

I would just LOVE to see UCLA hire Rick Barnes away from UcheaT@Knoxville

I dont know if it is the same anymore for schools like UCLA's ability to flash big cash against SEC schools and steal coaches. Pearl is in his comfort zone within the SEC country. And Barnes may be in the same boat now as well with success he is having. Money is no longer an issue for SEC schools.

Barnes would be a fool to go to UCLA.  He would struggle to meet their expectations and would probably be fire relatively quickly.  He makes a little over $3 million a year at Tennessee with lower expectations and is closer to East Coast talent and his Texas connections are still pretty close.

he's 64...if he doesn't like the pressure cooker that is UCLA hoops just collect the paycheck and retire in a couple years. He has nothing to lose and his stock will never be higher than right now IMHO.

If he can take Texas to a Final Four along with taking Clemson and Tennessee to Sweet 16's then he could do well at UCLA IMHO...he should take that job if offered.
