Trump publically calling for a coup.

Or maybe allow the legitimate ruler to take over or allow humanitarian aid through.

Geezus, this is Drumpf.  He called for violence to throw out protestors at his own rallies.  Even said he'd pay the legal fees.  And you're debating semantics?

" Set your country free! Now is the time for all Venezuelan Patriots to act together, as one united people."  What are they gonna do, hold a referendum?  The inference is clear.

Personally I don't give a rat's ass.  Maduro is an authoritarian dipshit, so I hope he gets overthrown.  I just can't believe cons here are trying to defend Trump's tweet, while attacking others as "commie lovers" for calling the tweet out for what it was.

This country is so completely phucked up.

So what if he is calling for a coup? Chavez and Maduros communist policies have destroyed Venezuela and their people are starving. Just another socialist utopia that has gone down the tubes.

When was the last time an American president publically called for a coup in another country?

Don't know about presidents and other countries, but I can recall some rechtie pundits calling for a coup to remove Obama.

Are you serious moron?  Obama called for and helped in some cases overthrow legitimate rulers in Egypt, Libya and Syria at least.https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2016/01/29/obamas_egyptian_blunder_129477.html

Historically in Latin America we didn’t call for them. We orchestrated them. One feature that is absent here is that our military and intelligence communities often have very close links with their counterparts in Latin American countries as the latter have often spent long periods in the US for training. These relationships provided back channels the were used to arrange, or at least assist, regime change on a number of occasions in Central and South America. Venezuela’s tilt towards the Cuban axis in recent decades has cut off those ties. Of course at other times we simply invaded.

the USA has been involved in many many government shakeups, coups, invasions etc. in the Western Hemisphere since about  the McKinley administration.

Oops actually make that the  James Polk  administration (1847) -- but not sure if they were public.

I don't get the anger from your side on this. Maduro is purposely starving his own people. I'm not a Trump fan, but this one thing I agree with him on. Unfortunately Maduro has the generals in his pocket so the military won't do anything. Isolated units may turn on the govt, but the majority will stay put until 2 or more generals get their heads out of their asses. One less Commie regime in the World is a good thing. Anyone who doesn't see that probably has a hammer and sickle tattooed on their ass.

Given what has been going on with Maduro you could make a pretty cogent argument that he's calling for the stop of the coup.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Now you've gone and done it...

I just wish you would have posted it in the other side of the forum... for the same reason you would throw a rock as far away from your position as possible in a Quiet Place.

He wasn't great either. He was a hair more effective than Carter.

This looks like a call to overthrow to me. Unless you think he is asking Maduro to end it.

I ask every member of the Maduro regime: End this nightmare of poverty, hunger and death.

It is a call to overthrow.

Why do you think it's controversial?

I think Trump is right on this.

Where did I say I was angry?  I believe I stated I don't give a shit, Maduro's an authoritarian dipshit and I hope he gets overthrown.

Let's not let my statement enter into your predetermined position though, right?  Easier to just point the finger and say "commie lover" than to actually comprehend something.
