Why SJSU can't Afford to Move to FCS.

SJSU's return to the Big West - have mercy on our soul - is possible IF a Cal State leaves, or Cal State Bakersfield's invitation was rescinded (they join in 2020).   They won't be invited as member #12.   The UCs won't go for it after relenting on Bakersfield.

SJSU athletics are questionable at best and nobody likes the Bakersfield Birds. A $10 million bribe courtesy of the MW would tilt the scales.

The CCAA, which is composed exclusively of CSU campuses, now has a baker's dozen members. So if SJSU couldn't get the Big Sky to take them, the Spartans would be a perfect fit for the CCAA.

Although it might be a little embarrassing for SJSU to be in the same athletics conference as Humboldt State, which is located in a remote, sparsely populated corner of California and which has one-fourth as many students.

This conference would pretty much suck even without SAN!!! But WITH the Spartans, it pretty much sucks double.

Boom goes the dynamite.

For a good comparison, nothing beats the Massey Composite; 58 computer rankings.

https://www.masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htm

This year, the MWC is ranked a pitiful 12th with an average of 165.76; behind the freaking Ivy League:facepalm:

The WAC is ranked 17th with an average of 181.47.

This is by far the worst showing for the MWC in the last 6 years and one of the best for the WAC;

End of season rankings:

2018     MWC 8     WAC 17

2017     MWC 9     WAC 19

2016     MWC 9     WAC 24

2015     MWC 11     WAC 31

2014     MWC 10     WAC 23

Year after year, the MWC is considerably stronger than the WAC.

Well there you go.  One site shows 15 and 16.   Another shows 17 and 12.  Close enough.  Take off Nevada,  and the conferences are basically the same, which was my original point.  And Nevada is an awesome team, no doubt.  Head and shoulders above everyone else, and not indicative of the average MWC team.   Also confirms per the other thread the WAC has been steadily improving.

Couple uh weirdos blabbering on. Neither of you are very important and nobody, I mean nobody, other than the two of you is reading any of those War and Peace posts. Earn some money today.

Does is surprise anyone that Creeper is unwilling to read a couple paragraphs that pertain to the future of SJSU? It’s the SJSU fan theme....indifference

Creeper may get pissy to the rest of us but to his credit, he still cares about his school's athletics. If several thousand more SJSU alumni had that passion, there might be hope.

Either that or he’s a sadist and enjoys constantly getting thumped on.

Getting pissy with the dipshittery that is ubiquitous over here is one way to show you care. Some of us just don't post over here anymore.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.
