Government isn't dependent on capitalism for its existence but the opposite is not true.  Without a supportive government capitalism as we know our can't exist.

Capitalism existed long before government.

Government didn't exist until there was a capitalist economy to support it.  Even if it was barter based.   Government couldn't exist, even a chieftain until someone was around to feed him and make him a few weapons.   Government produces nothing so it has to be supported.

Oh no, regardless of price, it's a stupid proposal but "soups" complaint was about being able to "afford it". My point is that when has affording it ever gotten in the way of government spending? That goes for the military too!

The defense budget is a poor example. The current broken welfare system and money spent on education, health services, and other public services to illegals is bigger than the inflation of the defense budget. The proposed healthcare overhaul coupled with this idiotic proposal would each absolutely dwarf it separately. Combined we essentially destroy our economy and the world's economy for 30 years.

This is pretty stupid, the hyperbolic AOCDS notwithstanding.

Get ready for majorities to approve measures like this in the next 20-30 years though. I feel like socialism generally is losing its stigma in American society as new generations forget the Soviet Union and its attendant domestic anti-communist propaganda.

The more I hear from lightweight far-righters like NorCal, the more I find myself wanting to support AOC. At least she has the guts to subject herself to criticism by providing rationale for her beliefs rather than devolving into inane ad hominem criticisms unsupported by explanation of her position.

So I must thank people like NorCal. I stopped being a Democrat about a year ago but the more I hear from airheads like him, the more I think I erred in that regard.

Boom goes the dynamite.

lol. He’s not taking a salary but he’s certainly using his position to make lots more money.

He is costing a lot more to protect with his trips and extended family getting security. The not taking a salary pales to that number.   Double dipping by staying at his own properties and having taxpayers pay for everyone staying and eating there is just an added bonus for the Trumpster.

Here signature proposal is indefensible.  There is no rationale that would support it.

The only lightweight is you.

So you base your philosophy, ideology, and representative support on whether or not you think certain people from certain groups may not voice their opinions in a way you approve. You're that fluid with your beliefs and support? So, you just bandwagon and follow the wind?

AOC has no real rationale. She wishes and dreams and uses others to try to effectively convey her ideas and messages to the public. She has lied about her upbringing. She never did and still has no grasp on the federal budget. She challenges some to debate, yet when others challenge her she hides behind false claims of catcalling. She thinks that being morally correct is more important than being factually correct. She couldn't decide for herself what issues to applaud or not during the SOTU. She had to look around and ask. She leeches off of Bernie's insane platform. She doesn't understand you need money to pay for programs.i can keep going. My point is, she is just a pretty face that won an election in a district where she lives in an echo chamber. Many Democrats outside of her philosophical circle want her to shut the hell up

These people have no coherent ideology to even articulate anymore and are not even aware of the positions they are attacking.  They just know Rush told them something was liberal or socialist and that is all they need to start the meme machine and begin foaming at the mouth.

This is the same AOC that denied the FAQ in the OP came from her, even though it was posted on her website, authored by her chief of staff and sent to NPR for a story on it. She’s literally learned the worst lessons from Trump. An incredible ability to brand herself and to deny saying what she said when it doesn’t get the reception she was hoping for.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

I'm glad that there is a derangement syndrome stronger than media derangement syndrome now.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

Example?

Not to mention the hypocrisy.  Clinton, Bush, Obama and every other president used the office to make money.

Easy. Look no further than the Inauguration Committee paying more the double the going rate for services to Trump properties.

It’s worse than a poor example, it’s sheer ignorance and nonsensical reguritation of partisan talking points.  I’ve called for massive cuts to defense spending on this board too many times to count but acting like it’s a factor anywhere close to entitlement spending and it’s >$200T in unfunded future liabilities is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest at best.

Cute you folks are trying to make that a thing.  This is one thread.  When folks are starting 5-10 threads a day entirely devoted to AOC like we’ve seen with Trump then you might have a point.  Until then this is just bitter nonsense from the TDS Brigade still in denial about their emotionally crippled state.

Why have you now mentioned me twice in this thread?  GFY...  What have you done to reduce your carbon emissions?  I’ll happily compare carbon footprints with most big talking hypocrite liberals like you who talk a big talk but do nothing to put their money where their mouth is.  My roof is lined with 30 panels.  I drive an energy efficient vehicle for the 1-2 times I drive into the office each month.  My 4,500 square foot home runs on less energy than most less than half it’s size with all the energy efficient upgrades I’ve made.  Just because I’m not a self-loathing human being that believes that we’re the sole driver of the current warming cycle that’s going to wipe us all out in 12 years doesn’t mean I’m not a huge advocate for being a good steward of the planet.  But keep up the empty rhetoric if it makes you feel morally superior.  #rentfree

Lol, your guys' hard on for aoc is an even bigger one than the left has for Trump. At least Trump is president, so what he does matters. The gnashing of teeth going on over the ramblings of a freshman congresswoman right now is something else.

Leading Democratic Presidential candidates have endorsed this policy. I’d say it’s more than just the ramblings of a congresswoman.

Yeah OK, there are an equal # of threads on the front page of this forum discussing Jeff Bezos, Four Corners, Gardening, and PayDay lenders as there are AOC...  nice try.

And yet the chatter is about aoc...

The right has a thing for her for some reason right now. Compare the way they treat her to the way they have treated bernie. It's weird, kinda creepy and slightly amusing.
