How in the hell is that at all related to my comment?

You ignored football, hence, “f’ball sails the ships in this conf.”

Hey genius. This thread is a reactionary thread to an article about Basketball.

Hoops is BIG...however, f’ball sails the ships in this conf.

You just replied to a poster that clearly wrote "bball 'flagship' program." Not sure what that has to do with football.

I'm calling BS on the term "Flagship" being used on a specific sport.  Especially when it's the #2-sport in the conf.  It goes against the definition of the word.  ¿Where does it stop?  ¿CSU's is the "Flagship" of MWC rebounding?

When you misuse words, they lose there meaning, power &/or intensity.  Look at "literally" -or- "ironic."

Flagship works in the context it was used. You seem to want it to mean something different. Carry on.

"Flagship" has nothing to do with any particular sport. You're either the big dog in your state or you're not.

By the way....you're not.

Not sure but it may have been SJSU:lol:

SJSU calls itself a flagship simply because of how old it is, but it’s been left behind by many schools because of unbelievably bad management. Fresno, a school decades younger has moved on to National University status, leaving SJSU behind. UCLA was once an extension of SJSU... yeah, let that one sink in.

National university status?

That may be the first funny thing you've ever posted on here.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

I think that is fair and accurate. Right now it seems like a couple of good seasons but Nevada does have the recent past to build on and with the current HC and staff they seem to be doing just that. It will be interesting to see if Muss can continue this trajectory (or even stays long enough) or if other schools will step up and challenge the Pack over the next few years.

One thing that is certain is we really need to stop all this nonsense about this conference needing "the big 3" to step up to restore order or bring credibility to the conference. I'm not even sure who the big 3 really are anymore. This isn't the 90's or early days of the original MWC, there are quite few schools in the current membership that have really good basketball history and we need them all to step up.

There are only 3 programs who give a shit about the big 3, or ever even mention it.

It was never really all that big in the first place.

SJSU and Fresno were tied in the regional university rankings about 4-5 years ago. Fresno has since moved on to the more prestigious National University category. They’ve made huge gains every year since- pretty much in all rankings.  SJSU has remained stagnant. It’s kind of their thing

A Nevada fan didn't write the article.  We definitely don't think we have the best athletic department in the conference.  You never hear Nevada fans say we need to leave this conference because we're too good.  Hopefully we can stay competitive in basketball and continue to improve in football.
