Democrat Thunderdome - 2020 Democratic Candidate Thread

I was shocked to hear Kentucky's governor elect give express kudos to organized labor during his speech Tuesday night. Granted the guy's father was also a Democrat who won in Kentucky but that state has been right-to-work forever. Further, despite the Supreme Court's Janus decision of a year and a half ago, data I found suggest that union membership in that state has increased from a 2016 low of 8.6% to nearly 10% of the workforce. I've never been to Kentucky and don't know much about the state but you have to think that increase is due in large part to a pushback against Trump and his policies.

Nationally union membership has declined since drumph.  Nevada like Kentucky is a right to work state and it too has seen an almost 2% increase in union membership.  I haven't put much thought into what it means though.   But I did see the Gov. elect from Kentucky give his speech and saw the local fire chief standing behind him.  Fire Dept. unions are very strong and those guys/gals sometimes go door to door, off duty, to support candidates they like.

Man I can’t wait for Steyer to drop out. True story, My 3 year old daughter helped me realize how much I despise him the other day. I watch a lot of YouTube, both actively and sometimes I just have it on in the background while I’m doing other stuff. And of course, you can’t watch more then a couple videos without getting a Tom Steyer commercial. Well my daughter was playing in the living room and one comes on and before I can say anything my daughter blurts out, “shut up Tom Steyer!” It was effing hilarious. I didn’t realize how often I would say that out loud until then. So my 3 year old not only knows who Tom Steyer is, but she knows he needs to shut the hell up and go away. Now if only the 1-2% of people polled can take a cue from my daughter.

Building a wall is stupid.   The problem i have is for the price of one aircraft carrier we could build that wall and  democrats could have got comprehensive immigration through.  Not doing that is stupid too.  Really  what it says is democrats don't want immigration reform which has been obvious for at least 5 decades.

The economy is weak because of the national debt and high taxes not only in the united states but around the world.

The Euro economy has been in a recession or stagnant for 30 years.

Interest rates may never rise much because business is so depressed around the world there is little demand for capital.

The debt is biting us in the ass every day and not only ours but all the western economies.

You are obviously not paying attention.

Thes tax cut was pointed at the poor.  It made 6% more citizens not having to pay any income tax raising that number to nearly half of all of those employed in this country.

The vast majority of the savings of any tax cut goes to the rich.  They pay all the taxes.   The poor get more money back than they pay in so they can't get a tax cut.   This is just stupidity on your part.

Trump is running up the national debt at about the same pace Obama did.  You didn't complain then hypocrite and Trump has to pay interest on Obama's debt.

Considering Obama broke treaties and killed leaders who had treaties with us and were complying.

Considering Obama committed acts of war against 6 countries.

Considering Obama encouraged the Arab spring then left them to die.

BConsidering Obama cut very popular Bush policies in africa affecting millions of people.

Pretty hard to buy what you are selling.

That is a bipartisan effort.

Trump by any measure has been a better president than anyone since Clinton and it isn't even close.  That doesn't say much.

The economy is better.  Do mostly to some of the Obama era regulatory problems he canceled.n

He is getting us out of wars not into them.

Actual criminal justice reform.

His supreme court judges are pro individual rights especially Gorsuch.

Your cat might make a better president than Trump but your cat would also make a better president than Warren, Sanders, and several of the rest of the communist authoritarians your party is running for president.

The above bolded statement is repeated by the Democrats to make the rich their scapegoat. It sells to poor people and their socialist base. However, anyone with a modicum of sense understands exactly what you stated above.

More likely a result of Obama policies that caused businesses to shut down especially coal mining and unions using that to organize workers.  Telling them the Union can keep them their job.  HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Dad always said that people like Red Skelton who laugh at their own jokes are feeble minded.

Does impeachment actually help Biden? I’ve been trying to game this out, and my initial reaction was a drawn out inquiry would dirty up Biden. But seeing as how it’s been playing out, Biden for whatever his faults has maintained a decent motte and bailey as the frontrunner.

Last I heard was Dems were aiming for a Christmas vote, delivering impeachment to Cocaine Mitch in the new year. Once it’s in his hands, he has the power to hold inconvenient hearings for Warren and Sanders when they need to be campaigning in the early states.

Is Biden still the most electable?

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Sounds like Warren is starting to slip and old man Biden will end up getting the nomination, as many thought.

Bloomberg is not going to be a factor.  Only way Warren could win would be if Bernie put his support behind her as well and I doubt he drops out.

Which you know for a fact because you were such good friends with my dad.

Considering what a dumb thing you quoted that was a pretty easy call.  Not to mention all comedians are pretty smart guys.    I imagine you didn't fall far from the tree.

I think Biden has the best chance of those who can win a democratic nomination.

I think Klobuchar or Gabbard could actually win but they have no chance at the nomination.

I would vote for Yang just because smart guys deserve a vote and he has real ideas.  Again no chance though.
