Democrat Thunderdome - 2020 Democratic Candidate Thread

Biden is only moderate in the sense that he is running against a literal socialist commie apologist. He’s a lunatic compared to the Democratic Party of 2006 that retook congress. But on that scale of gradation he’s preferable to Sanders.

Oh I’m well aware of that dipshit staying in the race, drawing away votes the whole time that gave Trump a plurality, all on the narcissistic notion that because he won his own state the party would somehow buck the voters and nominate him at the convention. There are a lot of people with dirty hands in the rise of Trump in the Republican Party. But maybe none had quite the callow, self-serving hand that Kasich did. Klobuchar and Buttigieg seem like statesmen today. John Kasich has more in common with Trump than them.

But who would Kasich have "stepped aside" for?

Cruz or Rubio. Which would have pressured the loser of the two to do the same. Those two are much closer ideologically to Kasich than Sanders is to anyone in the field. Ideology was not the problem with Trump. Being an ignorant, disgusting jackass was the problem.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Cruz won the Idaho primary. Trump was second.  I voted for Rubio who was third.

Rubio couldn't even carry his own state

He dropped out the day after he lost Florida.

Only because of all the momentum swinging to Trump by that point.

It was Don Cheeto (35%), Tea Party Ted (20%), and the Moderates (45%) at this point (March) in the race.

---

Now we've got Communist Bernie (35%), Crazy Joe (25%), the Billionaire (15%), and the rest (25%).

Momentum is going to swing pretty hard in favor of Bernie tomorrow.  Will be tough for anyone else to regain.

Rubio.  Carson stayed in too long as well.

Carson at least was an outsider with his own reasons. Kasich and Rubio used the team to rise to prominence, then said screw the team, I should get the nomination despite what the voters are clearly telling me.

Was this before or after the GK's lost, at home, to the lowly Kings last night?

I voted for Rubio as well. By that point it was too late. Trump smashed the Nevada caucus before doing the same in South Carolina a week later. The Democrats sounded the alarm bells this time around and have put up a fight. The jackasses in the GOP didn’t do that.

I regret that vote. Cruz at least was who he said he was, whatever differences I had with him.

So, why do you say "screw Kasich" and not screw Rubio or Cruz?

Guess they figured Klobuchar would help Biden more generally in Super Tuesday that it was worth sacrificing Minnesota to Bernie?

Dumbass Scandinavians will still vote for Bernie. It’s in their socialist blood.

I wonder what Warren will do now? The play has been made, it is obvious that Biden is the establishment choice; whatever delusions Warren had of winning at a brokered convention have to be dead now. I think the smarter play for her now is to stay in one more day, then drop out and endorse Bernie. It should be clear to her that she has no role in a Biden presidency, so if she has any aspirations of a cabinet role she has to hitch her wagon to Bernie.

You’re right about the GOP but that is two weeks down the road. The Dems broke the glass to save their party. The GOP didn’t and by the time Rubio wasn’t viable, it was too late for Cruz to rally anyone to save it from becoming the party of Trump.

Gotta hand it to those Dems, they’ve at least learned the lessons of the last war. Whether or not that can save them from three years of kowtowing to the commie apologist left remains to be seen. But lifelong Democrats should be prouder today than I ever was in 2016. At least you had a few politicians willing to fight for the party rather than themselves.

As a Bernie supporter, I am now thankful we have the Bloomberg Super Pac assisting the revolution.
