But can republicans really afford to piss of a good % of their base !?!

This is written by GOP Senator Tim Scott who is black

Tim Scott: Why are Republicans accused of racism? Because we’re silent on things like this.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/01/11/tim-scott-republicans-can-no-longer-be-silent-bigotry/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.9d6e11cd21f0

Some in our party wonder why Republicans are constantly accused of racism — it is because of our silence when things like this are said. Immigration is the perfect example, in which somehow our affection for the rule of law has become conflated with a perceived racism against brown and black people.

Sure their are a lot of decent people who are conservatives.  But the Republicans problem is Trump isn’t one of them in any way.   In fact, Trump is very much like King and like it or not the Party is the Trump Party.   The old western libertarian Republican Party has morphed into a southern social Conservative party.

The best thing CA Republicans could do would be to abandon the National Party and start a new Party along traditional libertarian Republican lines.

Very good points made by Scott.

Bet no prominent conservatives call on him out to resign, and he won't.  People like King should not hold positions of power.

The GOP is in a pickle with the racist type stuff - Some can come out and say something fairly strong against it, but a lot of them have to hold it down some because of their base voters which they can't afford to piss off - Most just come out with a mealy mouthed slap on the wrist type comment, then go vote for the very policies that Klansman Steve King (IA) supports and advocates for.

Just like their support of trump........if they don't back trump the base of racists and nazi's will become upset and that means a risky primary or even a primary opponent.

Here in NV then US Senator Dean Heller was sort of an arms length from trump for most of trumps 1st year........then BOOM, Danny Takraknian jumped in to primary Heller running on the trump / racist / nazi game plan .........then trump calls Heller in to basically give him the "Whats up" and suddenly Heller becomes a huge trump fan and within a month trump talks Danny into running (again) for NV's 3rd Congressional Seat

Here's Heller becoming besties with trump

image.jpeg

Campaign rallies where held featuring the two new best buds

Image result for Heller trump

Even got a ride in Air Force One !!!!!

Image result for Heller trump

Then the primaries come and sure enough Heller cruises to an easy victory for his Senate seat...........and Danny wins the nomination for NV's 3rd congressional district

So now they were both fully on the trump train and backing the racist / nazi platform - And then both got crushed in the General Election

I was really proud of the message our state sent.  Align with Trump and get slaughtered.

The best way to know your winning the argument against liberals is when they start calling you racist.  They can't win the policy debates logically or with reason so they have nothing left and have to resort to calling everyone who doesn't agree with them as racist.  And too many conservatives are too silent in their response to it.  However, Trump doesn't play by those rules and I think more people are going to stop worrying about being PC and fight back.

Racists come in all colors, all walks of life, and all political persuasions. To think otherwise is ignorant. It’s just another way of saying my tribe is better than your tribe.

Yes, they do, but some tribes are certainly better than others with respect to certain issues.

Curious what you are doing here.... Are you saying Tim Scott is a liberal GOP senator that is losing some sort of argument....or are you just making a general off topic observation?

The biggest whiff by right wingers is their blind spot to the obvious - and one of their blind spots is they can't grasp that a number their party's politicians, candidates & policy positions are based in racism

Combine this with the cult of trumpism, that he's just "doing what I like" (lowered my taxes $100) so they can ignore the obvious

This condition is sweeping through the right wingers nationally and through their elected politicians

Reality was and is, trump stood behind a racist nazi rally in Charlotte VA ("fine people on both sides") and yet it's the left that brings up racism !!!!  :shrug:

That's ironic coming from an ignorant racist authoritarian leftist.
