Ransomware would give you a message asking for money.  Download malwarebytes and run a scan.  It has a free version and will check for malware.

But if you want to pay a ransom ... I'm sure there will be takers .... :)

I've got Malwarebytes, and it was innefective.

I'm pretty sure it's a RAM or USB issue - I swear forgetting various Windows messages advising me of something along those lines...

Okay, here's a question: considering that I can prompt the Blue screen any time I want, will my CPU run on only 1 stick of RAM?  If so, then I can just find the bad stick via process of elimination, one at a time...

Right??

Sounds like you have 4 sticks of ram.

Remove 1 stick at a time, and then boot your computer until it does not give you this screen.   That will help you to eliminate the bad stick of ram (if that is indeed the problem).

Fu/cking, Stunner!!!  See my above post - like a minute before yours...

Me and you are on the same wavelength, bro!!

Great minds, my good man...

This is probably "Ransomware". See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ransomware_(malware)

Typically, if any click is made in that window, you will have to pay someone to allow your machine to work for you again.
Best to immediately do a restart if something like this is displayed.

This is not ransomware,  this is a hardware issue.  Ransomware will allow the machine to operate but with all non system file encrypted

After looking at the error page, it appears I jumped to a conclusion because it appeared simular to a ransom wear one.

The screen references usb3 which is may be a memory stick.

Your idea of attempting to identify which stick is causing the problem is probably the right one.

If this machine is actually running on a memory stick it could be an out-of-memory problem. That could be resolved by house cleaning.

Having goofed before, I will stop.

If you have an external hard drive connected try disconnecting it before you boot up your computer

I've got 3 external HDD's, 1 external SDD, 2 USB's, and 1Mini SD card...

Is there anyway to keep all my above-mentioned peripherals intact, without disconnecting them all every single time I boot this bitch??

Thanks for the insight.

The only thing I can tell you is to disconnect them all and then reconnect them one at a time before booting if the blue screen comes on it's that drive causing the problem

There may be nothing wrong with the bad Drive something in it like a driver or a bad program can cause the blue screen

I shall follow your instructions; however, don't you think it could also be a bum stick of RAM like others have proposed?

Yes it could be, there is an onboard program for testing memory on your computer you can try that I've had this trouble before and all it was was my external drive had a bad driver in it and would not allow my computer to boot

Option 1: Run the Windows MemoryDiagnostic. To launch the WindowsMemory Diagnostic tool, open the Start menu, type “Windows MemoryDiagnostic”, and press Enter. ... Your computer will restart and the WindowsMemory Diagnostics Tool screen will appear. Just leave it be and let it perform the test.Jun 30, 2016
