Nah,  they had guys for something that small.  They were too busy running the casinos and paying the politicians. The guy with the little girl in front of him is Tony "Joe Batters" Accardo, arguably the most powerful mob boss in US history.

Is that photo from vegas?

By all account that I've heard from some of the real old timers, things were better when the mob ran things.

I met an older, long retired chiropractor in Reno.  He said when he was practice, if someone was injured on the job at a mob run casino, he would treat the employee and never send anyone a bill.  Every week someone would be by with an envelope for the doc.  No workers comp needed.

No.  Chicago.  Probably Oak Park, where all The Outfit bosses lived. They sent people out to Nevada (like Tony The Ant) to run their interests.

I'm looking forward to a new head coach who isn't a cud-chewing autistic retard.

They had some dealings at North Tahoe too.  I have heard some stories.

They hated Sinatra, who was the named owner of the Cal Neva at the time.  But everyone knew who the real owners were.

Sinatra took too many liberties.  They had to reel him in a time or two.

No, it's Chicago. It's Tony Accardo and his crew. Guy personally killed a handful and later order many hits, including seven on guys who robbed his house. Never spent more than 1 night in jail. Died of natural causes at 86.

Watch AMC's Making of the Mob: Chicago. It's a docudrama but really historically accurate as to how powerful the Chicago mob was from the 40s through the 80s.

A friend of mine lived on the same dorm floor as Eric Kumerow (Bosa bros uncle), and he let everyone know who his grandfather was.

Sinatra probably dealt more with Sam Giancana.

Correct. Accardo eventually exiled Giancana to Mexico, and when he returned to Chicago against orders, he wasn't long for these mortal coils.

Speaking of the Cal-Neva, I read that some bay area tech money was being pumped into it.to restore it to its mid-century, Don Draper glory.  Is that still happening?

No, actually Sinatra and Giancana were good friends. Sinatra introduced Giancana's girlfriend to JFK; who probably acted as a go between for the president and Giancana.

 Now owned by Larry Ellison

Form Wikipedia:

Criswell-Radovan, LLC, a Napa, California-based development company, purchased the property in spring 2013, and closed it on September 5, 2013 for a complete renovation.[15] The development project was originally estimated to take at least a year and was to include overhauls of the interior guest rooms, the Circle Bar, the casino, Frank Sinatra's Celebrity Room theater and a complete exterior upgrade. The casino upgrade sought to restore the Cal Neva's original 6,000-square-foot gaming floor, complete with a full slot machine display and the return of table games. The project was initially planned to finish by December 2014,[58] but reopening was delayed multiple times due to difficulties with construction and financing. The company obtained a $29 million loan in November 2014 that allowed construction to begin.[59] An additional $20 million equity line of credit was also financing the project.

Criswell-Radovan filed for bankruptcy protection in July 2016, and the Cal Neva was then put up for auction.[60][61] Billionaire Larry Ellison was the sole bidder, purchasing the property for $35.8 million in January 2018.[62]

They were friends until Sinatra started taking out markers and not paying them back.

Just because a mob guy is your friend it doesn't mean he won't slit your throat if doing so is good for business.

Not that I've seen or heard.  But there are always rumors.

It might be the Crystal Bay Club that you're thinking of.
