You’re the moron that derailed the thread by not focusing on the authoritarian congressman who wants to imprison and murder American citizens. Does he give you a boner?

The thread was a pathetic joke to begin with.  It's as useless as your debating skills.

If I posted anything and used a pathetic joke of a website as the source, I'd be lambasted too.  You deserve it.  It's tin-foil hat, batshit crazy nonsense.  Right up there with what you poke fun at Jackrabbit and Connie about. Only you're doing it.

Kudos on letting the real you finally come out of the closet!

Actually you derailed it by linking me into it.   What is amazing is you actually think I’m anti second amendment.

You’re pathetic because you can’t stay on topic. Why don’t you just be honest about who you are? It’s painfully obvious that you’re a raging authoritarian communist who loathes anything or anyone supporting individual rights.

Just because I think the probability of such a war is higher than people want to believe does not mean I want one.

Lol — you still have that command center in your parents’ basement?

You’re not just anti-second amendment, you’re also anti-individual and anti-sanity.

I see....  well given the state of the conversation on this board are you surprised?   If gun control comes to pass like some on the left want, it will only come about via force.   And given the rise of armed militias on the right

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/show/armed-militia-groups-surging-across-nation

it could well turn into a civil war.

Ideally we could arrive at a mutually beneficial solution that addresses the mass shooting issues and provides improved protection defined in the 2nd amendment.   Sadly, given the state of political discussion in this country the first path seems far more likely.

My biggest issue with the discussion is “assault” rifles aren’t really a problem.  All rifles account for less than 500 murders every year.  The real problem is handguns which are used in over 8,000 murders annually.  This is why I balk at the talk about assault weapons bans.  It won’t do or change anything.

Hyperbole, distortion and bullshit - not just the website you get your info from, but it's become a definition of who you are

Pretty sad.

Lol — your history on this board has been nothing but hyperbole, distortion, and extreme far left propaganda.

More deflection.

Dude I worry about you.  You flit between moments where you can appear lucid, then you go far off the rails.  Are you bi-polar?

Things will get better.  Meds and therapy.  Big Red offers really great health care packages.  Time to use them!  Always remember:

Yep the control debate and abortion debate are very similar in both sides are absolutely certain of the moral certainty of their position and unwilling to move on even reasonable points.

Thats why it’s pointless discussing it.

What is your reasonable point you think we should all agree to?

First you have no idea what I believe.

As for Afghanistan, they haven’t come close to overthrowing the elected government when our Armed Forces are involved.  They have largely survived by going over the border with Pakistan.

I do believe the protection intended by the second amendment is largely illusory given the gap between government armaments and what’s allowed the populace.  We have spent 20 years perfecting aysometric warfare.  Right now I believe we are in the worst possible position of being caught in between.

As far as mental health you are foolish if you say oh we will just fix mental health.   The issue is access to guns by the mentally ill.  The mentally ill are not going away.

The elected government in Afghanistan is in name only and only really exists in and around Kabul. The provinces are the wild west and the Afghani federal government doesn't exist there.

If an insurgency came to America in the form of a gun ban it would be a bloodbath. No one sane wants that. There would be secession of numerous states, etc. It would tear apart the country.

The mental health issue became a big problem when Reagan cut the spending on it. Guns have been available in this country since it's foundation. What changed was our approach to mental health and the funding for it.

PRIOR TO THE 1980S America had a robust and effective, if not particularly humane, method of keeping the mentally ill out off the streets: the state mental hospitals. Then we effectively eliminated that system, and almost immediately we saw a huge increase in mass violence.

There were two gun massacres in the two decades before Ronald Reagan took office, one in 1966 and one a decade later. Then there were, by some estimates, more than 30 mass killings during Reagan's time in office alone.

What happened? Well, with the 1981 Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, Washington cut federal mental health funding and converted the remaining money into block grants to the states.

I'd encourage you to read that link. I have a ton more just like it. You seem passionate about this issue but you aren't informed enough to discuss all the issues surrounding it. You just blame gun owners and say we are unreasonable when you won't look at any other causes outside the availability of guns. If you took the time to get past your emotion and look at the facts you would see that there is more to mass shootings than just guns.

You’re the one that derailed this thread, not me. You can’t stay on subject because you know focusing on it would be a losing proposition.

That dirtbag congressman hates individual liberties almost as much as you do. Well, I’m sorry that freedom sickens you so much Comrade. You really should have been born in the Soviet Union under Stalin’s reign, that or under Pol Pot’s regime. You would have thrived under that type of rule.

As it is, you have to endure living in a country with laws written and designed to limit government authority. I don’t know what else to recommend to you other than to go find a different environment where you could truly be happy. China and Cuba are both in the process of liberalizing themselves so time and opportunity is running out. North Korea might be your last best option. That said, Venezuela might be a beacon of new hope for you.

Good luck!

For the record I don’t want to confiscate guns and I firmly believe in the 2nd amendment.  I do think semi automatic guns are a bastard child only useful for mass murders.

I don't think you know what a semiautomatic gun is.

Do you want to outlaw 1022s?

Do you want to outlaw double action revolvers that fire every time you pull the trigger?

That’s a good point.  Again I’m not saying I have answers just that currently I think we are sub-optimized no matter your goal.

Who blamed gun owners?   I said the problem was the access to guns by the mentally ill.   You jumped to blaming gun owners.   Are you advocating returning to the 60’s with mental health hospitals?

I agree gun control could spark a civil war.   It may very well come to that point.

US Military can control whatever part of Afghanistan they want.  It’s a matter of boots on the ground.

Perhaps before you frame your arguments you might want to understand what you are arguing against.
