The bottom and middle of this league are going to be pretty bad this year.Hopefully CSU and USU can keep winning and exceed expectations.

Utah State has really taken a big jump with Craig Smith. Trending very much toward a top half of MWC and national Top 100 season.  CSU is definitely improved under Niko Medved but I'm afraid their upside is middle of the MWC pack this season becaus of a lack of interior depth.

I got to know both Craig and Niko when they were assistants at CSU under Tim Miles.  While I leaned toward Niko as a better choice to replace Sideshow Larry, I would have been very happy if Craig had been given the job.  Utah State made a really good decision.  Both Craig and Niko know how to build winning programs.

Wyoming athletics simply can no longer compete in the MWC, the last 4 years in FB and MBB will be remembered as their sunset years, their last great (hardly mediocre) memories of FBS competition.

Wyoming vs Montana would be a great Big Sky Conference rivalry.  And Wyoming would actually be competitive.

Wyoming and SJSU should be petitioning the Big Sky Conference for full membership.

I've heard there is a lot of clamor for a Wyoming vs Montana rivalry and many feel it would be a top 10 rivalry in all of football.  Stunner, as a board expert on the intermountain region, what have you heard?

Honestly, either Montana needs to join the MWC, or Wyoming needs to join the Big Sky.

Montana vs Wyoming would be a top 15 rivalry nationally, and top 5 in the west.

It'd probably be an ESPN every year.   It'd be big.

Name for the rivalry: "The Cowboy Ball"

@slappy the big sky is expecting you.

Come on.   Jeez we had a bad night.  Not like we lost to Idaho State   Or something

Seriously

We have dominating Unlv in basketball and football over the past 5 years of MW play.  I know that isn’t saying much, but still.  When it comes to bottom half finishes in the MW, Unlv only trails San Jose State.  That’s it.

They'll be together in a realigned MWC a decade from now.

Boom goes the dynamite.

I didn’t spend a lot of time researching this so it could be inaccurate but it looks like unlv’s record vs Wyoming in basketball the last five years is 8-3

and the two teams have only played twice in football the last five years??? And the record is tied 1-1
