SDSU West leading big

Any updated polls on this?

Most recent polling I could find was 10/14 from UT:

Measure G, the SDSU West Initiative, would have the city sell 132 acres of land to San Diego State University. Some 57 percent of respondents said they are in favor of the measure; 26 percent said they were against it and 17 percent are unsure of where they stand.

That compares to 32 percent of locals who said they supported Measure E, the SoccerCity initiative that would have the city lease 233 acres at the stadium site and 20 acres at the Chargers' former Murphy Canyon facility to investment firm FS Investors. Some 48 percent of respondents said they were against the measure and 20 percent are still undecided.

Hillary was about 3% up on Trump in the national polls going into election night.  And she won the popular vote at over 2.1% so it was pretty spot on.  SDSU West is over 25% higher than Socker City so its a big spread.  But you are correct... nothing is over until the votes are counted.

But the polls in Pennsylvania, Michigan,  and Wisconsin were giving her the edge, then he won all 3. So polls are more of a rough estimate of the way things will go and not a strong probability.

We won't know any actual voting data until after the polls close at 8pm.  Most people think it will be close for Measure G to pass. The Measure E backers who have a competing initiative for the SDCCU site have heavily campaigned against Measure G.  The Measure E polling data is low and that group's best chance at this point is if both measures fail. If both fail the city will start over again with an RFP process, and we go down this road again.  We are hoping that city of San Diego residents see this tactic and Vote no on E and Yes on G, so the University can grow and prosper.

E has no chance of winning so its proponents have switched to trying to bring down G in the hopes they can then use Mayor Faulconer, an anti-Aztec Aztec if there ever was one, to get the city council to sponsor another measure which might actually have a chance of allowing half of the Qualcomm land to be sold to developers.

I can hear FSI's pitch now. "Everybody knows there aren't nearly enough retailers in Mission Valley nor enough condominiums. If you allow us to build it, they will come!"

It's better for all of San Diego County that SDSU West passes.  And if a Major League Soccer franchise comes here?  That works, a cherry on top.

Would not be surprised to see an offer from AAC to join up. I assume we would decline it but if AAC got $10 mill per year per school we might reconsider.

If San Diego fans want a Major League Soccer team they will need to build two stadiums. MSL will not permit teams to play in a stadium which is the home of a college football or pro football team. The only exception is the two early teams that joined at the founding of the league. They are grandfathered in. Cincinnati was added to MLS this year and told they had two years to build there own stadium and not play at the U of C Nippert stadium after the two years. This was unfortunate as the MLS Cincy stadium will only seat 26,500 and Nippert seats 40K.

I like soccer It is a great sport and becoming more popular but it should not be put in the way of  SDSU or any other division 1 university team.

Good going San Diego.

The AAC might get $5 million.

Multiple teams play in stadiums that are not their own, regardless of he qualifiers. Either way, nobody cared about MLS yesterday, they don't care about it today, and they won't care tomorrow.

The AAC isn't going to offer SDSU. Those nitwits could have had SDSU, Boise and a couple other MW schools for all sports half a dozen years ago but instead added Too-lame and a school located in a small city between North Carolina State and the Atlantic Ocean thereby proving that their commissioner is even dumber than Craig Thompson.

Cue Houston Fan, Tulsa Guy or one of the Aresco Athletic Conference's other true believers.

That’s such a no brainer to invest in a great university that’s been around forever and will be around forever. Basing the development around a freakin’ soccer franchise that might not even be around in the future and build more fvcking condo’s, houses and stores? What a cluster fvck. And it would fvck SDSU from ever having the kind of land to bring the school to another level.

For those that voted for E, show some fvcking loyalty and respect to an institution that been loyal to SD for over a 100 years and isn’t going anywhere. Fvck!
