Ahh, the yearly tradition. Pillow fight at your house? Or theirs?

Theirs because of our court design

Honestly though it would be really cool for Prioleau to visit his alma mater

If it was an away game, it makes me wonder...could SJSU afford the airfare for the team to go to NYC or would they take Greyhound?

and then we have to talk about the rent in +++++ing NYC, sheesh

It really is. /r/CollegeBasketball considers the A-10 as a power conference. Even the bottom feeders had loads of history way back then (La Salle, Duquesne, etc.).

I hope it happens. A10 is a good basketball conference. It's probably better, top to bottom, than the MWC, to be honest.

The challenge would prove that, of course. But if the MVC versus MWC challenge is an indicator, the MWC has a way to go.

Don't forget the Bonnies, they've made the post season (NCAA or NIT) in 3 of the last 6 years including last year when they beat UCLA in the first 4.  They usually have a pretty strong squad.

I could never figure out St. Bonnaventure.. If any of you have traveled to Olean (the little and I do mean little town in upstate NY where they are located) you would be amazed that they could recruit ANY players to come there. The gym would not be a good high school gym in San Diego although they do list it as holding 5000. That is a fraud in my opinion. I had a customer who operated a grocery wholesaler there and I handled their 401K. One of the occasions I went there I stopped by the campus for a game against Xavier when X was in the A10. The entire experience was pathetic. Yet every few years they come up with a good team.

I suppose they are an example of what a small private religious school with no football program can do with almost no assets. I suppose the proper question is if a glorified high school which does not really care about sports can have the occasional good team why can not the bottom half of  the MWC  do ANYTHING in bkb or fb even with much greater assets? That is one I have never been able to answer.

Have any of you who favor this type of agreement stopped to think that such a competition between the MWC and the Atlantic 10 could result in us loosing more games per season than we currently lose? If we can not dominate the MoVal why would you expect us to do any better against the A10. Yes my school (SDSU) and a few others would do well most seasons but at least 7 or 8 of our teams would not. Ergo how are we benefited ? Travel costs would be much higher for example. Hell SJSU can not afford to go to Vegas why would they go to Rhode Island?

I would like to see the top 4 MWC teams go against the top 4 A10 teams but that is it.

I went to high school in Buffalo and for sports traveled down to Olean High School a couple times.  I love that area though, not necessarily Olean, but that whole western NY area, I'll actually be there next week.

Hey Amaru, good to talk to an upstate NY sportsfan.

Before my accident 2 years ago and the 3 operations and 10 weeks in hospital and physical rehab which left me almost unable to walk I went up to your area at least twice a year. Once to visit my client and once to ski. First let me say I have never been a good skier. However I did much enjoy going to Elllicottville about 70 miles south of Buffalo. One of the most beautiful villages and resorts I have ever been to. Despite the fact that Holiday Village Ski Resort does not have slopes anything like those you find in Colorado and the west it is one of the best 10 resorts in the country in my opinion. I especially like the night skiing and the roller coaster going through the resort area. I believe they call it the Ski Mountain Coaster. There is another ski resort about 20 miles from there called the Kissing Bridge Ski Resort which is also nice but not nearly as nice as the Holiday Valley Resort.

It is probably to early for snow but have a good trip home.

A true east coast vs. west coast challenge is always good for perception. You want something concrete to point towards come tournament time.

La Salle lit up Boise in the first four a few years back and their teams have made runs. AAC challenge is slightly more useful but not by much.

...assuming we win the games and all.

How does it work since they have 3 more teams?

3 A-10 teams won't participate, much like the MW is doing now with 1 member

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the committee does an algorithm for seeding the most similar teams of each conference, hence Nevada-Loyola (IL)...so it may be something along those lines

Side note: Maybe the WCC and Big East can do a similar challenge just so Gonzaga fans can stop whining.

Our administration is not in favor of these challenges. They're formed to get competitive games for teams that lack the resources/appeal to secure them on their own. SDSU doesn't have that problem.

Gonzaga has no problem scheduling big name schools.  Look at their schedule.  They are loaded.

SDSU could probably benefit form a 16 game conference schedule, similar to Gonzaga in the WCC.

Teams love playing games in Southern California.
