How come democrats alway complain about republican policies towards the poor?

Recommended Posts

When their policies create more poverty and disenfranchise more people?

They seem to be almost everywhere, in places old and new, no age spared. Sleeping on cardboards or bare ground, the homeless come together under bridges and trees, their belongings in plastic bags symbolising lives on the move.

Many have arrived on the streets just recently, victims of the same prosperity that has transformed cities across the US West Coast. As officials struggle to respond to this growing crisis, some say things are likely to get worse.

It's gotten awful here in Bakersfield, CA. The homeless are migrating from LA to the central valley in droves and it's causing major health issues and a crime rate spike we haven't seen in almost 20 years. Just last week I saw a homeless man stumbling into the middle of the street barely able to walk during 5:00 rush hour traffic on one of the busiest roads in the city. Someone pulled over to help him but when the driver confronted him, the man started screaming and tried to fight the guy helping him. Our homeless shelter is full and overrun so they are sleeping in parks and built tent cities down by the river.

Wait, you're blaming democratic policies for the extreme amount of wealth creation we're seeing in the West Coast? seems a little out of character for you

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Many of these people are mentally ill and belong in mental institutions. Thank the ACLU for curtailing that. Drugs have also had a big effect as the addicted can’t get or hold jobs. Then you have the group that simply can’t make ends meet on minimum wage whose families have abandoned them.

I feel like weather (and community) is the biggest driver to where homeless settle--not the policies themselves. (Unless we're talking about social services, which will also attract them)

Homeless people are going to warm weather climates, they aren't being created.

yeah, you got homeless people actively migrating to the west coast, you have many of them that actively refuse help and have no interest in getting and maintaining a job and those that are unable to do anything productive due to health issues.  And you also have some people that are down on their luck and nowhere to go.
I support programs that help homeless people, help them get situated so they can have a place to be and get a job so they can be self supporting.  But many also get a job, get paid and just use the money on alcohol or drugs and then lose a job and do it all over again. These programs need to use their resources to help those who want to help themselves and the ones that don't - leave them on their own.  You can't force someone to work right.
