#2 isn't an option.  A Catholic conference isn't letting UNLV in. Not even if they were good.

I'm not sure #1 is a viable option. You can't afford a guy like that even if you could find one who is willing.

You will probably end up with what you hope is an up an comer who will work for peanuts.  Or maybe a retread who will do the same.

None of that means you won't get a good coach.

With over $3 mil coming in every year for 10 years, we will. And as @Rosegreen stated above, DRF just put Sanchez on notice.

Sure, she put him on notice but, it doesn't take a PH IQ to look at the schedule and say we are +++++ed.  The 3 million coming in for ten years I'm willing to bet is not earmarked for a head coach.  I'm not sure where that money is going to be spent.  Somehow we need to come up with the money to hire a proven coach or let's just end this shithole of program.

UNLV fans,

Would you guys be interested in swapping coaching staffs for the remainder of the season?

Doing an "companionship exchange", where we get to try out the other schools coaching staff for the last few games?

You'd get BYU's staff, and BYU would get UNLV's staff.

Sell Sam Boyd Stadium.  UNLV owns 70 acres of land out there.

If UNLV got $20 million for selling Sam Boyd Stadium we could use that money to buy a coach!

Whoever is running (ruining) things over on Maryland Parkway needs to get their head out of their @$$ and get that property on the market immediately!  Get a deal done that allows us to play there until Nov. 2019.

All of that money earned from the stadium sale should be used for Football ONLY!  Finish the upstairs of the new Football facility and buy a real coach!

You still have to find the guy in option #1.  Even a diehard reb fan like you has to understand the reality  that vegas isn't an attractive option for an attractive coach looking to make a move.  The reality is you aren't even good enough to be a stepping stone.  No one has furthered their career by becoming the HC at vegas.

Is the 3 mil set aside exclusively for FB or is it athletic dept money?

Are you on drugs.  If UNLV was offering $3 million a year for a Head Coach to play in the best stadium in the world on the LV Strip with a brand new Football Facility in the most exciting city in the world you would have a 100 of the top candidates in the country applying.  UNR and Boise’s coaches would even send in their resume but it would t make the Top 50 cut.

UNLV will get $3.5 million a year for 10 years from the Stadium authority.

UNLV can and should sell Sam Boyd Stadium and the 70 acres there for at least $20 million if not more.

UNLV will also have 70 new Luxury suites to sell that we didn’t before.  Plus 60,000+ seats in a brand new beautiful venue.

All new money should go to Football and hiring a real coach!

Hmmm. Isn’t it $3m to offset cost of game day operations which Vegas willl have to pay? And that number isn’t even nailed down yet?

No it is to cover lost revenue from UNLV losing all of the events at Sam Boyd Stadium (that is why UNLV would be smart to sell Sam Boyd) which are likely to move to the new stadium instead.  If UNLV sells Sam Boyd that forces those events to move somewhere else even if they don’t want to, and UNLV will be guaranteed the $3.5 million a year from lost revenue.

$3.5 million a year for 10 years and we would no longer have to do any upkeep on the facility if UNLV sells it so that money would be pure profit.

UNLV will have to pay game day costs of probably $250,000 to $300,000 to play in the new stadium but we get 70 luxury suites to sell at $50,000 a piece to start and we get all revenue for parking, beer, seats etc.

UNLV must sell Sam Boyd Stadium and use that money to fund a new coach.  The $3.5 million for 10 years and the new luxury suite revenue should be used to hire a big time staff and fund football at a big boy level.  No one in the MWC will be able to compete with UNLV.

Robbie, you don't really have a good record in regards to who will, or should, be coaching at vegas.

A new stadium doesn't erase decades of suckage or invigorate a fan base who historically just doesn't give a shit.

And soon real football will be coming to vegas making rebel football even less interesting than it already is.

The future of rebel football does not look good.  It's also improbable that some chick will be the one to turn that around.

We stole your coach before and we can do it again anytime we choose.  We are the big boy school.  You are nobody.  Remember your place and things will be easier for you going forward.  You have no future, your program is nothing even if you win, still nothing.  Nobody cares and never will.  Enjoy your high school bleacher seat stadium and lousy basketball arena that Vegas payed for.

You are a founding member of this conference and you're already eating our dust.

Lots of people believe the conference would be better without you in it. You're basically San Ho without academics.

Your only street cred is an old BB championship that is about as relevant as BYU's FB NC.

What you say and what I read when I google this are two different things. What article are you pulling this theory from?

Well, now might be a good time to steal our coach. If you hadn’t noticed, Vegas is again the worst football team in the conference and is picked to be one of the worst in basketball too. You’ve talked this same foolish speal for 20 years? on this board and in that time has Vegas won a single MWC title?

I think Wyoming is pretty good at collegiate Rodeo. ;) Which is more than my Spartans can say.

Well, we travel more fans in one season than UNLV has traveled in 25 years...

UNM has zero chance of getting either Rich Rod or Graham. No way would coaches of that caliber come to a school located in the middle of a large state which produces almost no HS players of FBS caliber. The only way UNM will ever win at football is to cheat. Find the next Dennis Franchione and that's the pinnacle. Even then, to paraphrase Mike Leach when he was on the Sirius college station, the coach would need to emulate Francione and  load up on redshirts and transfers and look to win big every third year.

Darn you and your logic! :foottap:
