We ABSOLUTELY should not drop football.  That’s a LOSER mentality.  Get a REAL coach and the results WILL come.

After Sanford and Son, The Hawkster, and a High School coach do you really believe we will hire an experienced Division 1 coach?  Really?

We need to drop football. Basketball will suffer the same fate if we don't put all hands on deck in the face of more pro sports teams coming to Vegas.

This guy gets it. Please drop football and move to church league hoops.  Strengthen the MW.  Byu is doing fine playing in high school gyms.

"but we only lost to Stanford by 3."

Sanchez made UNLV competitive. UNLV was never meant to be a 10 win program

Cougars fight for Dear ol' UofH

For our alma mater cheer

Fight for Houston University

For victory is near

When the going get so rough and tough

We never worry, CAUSE WE GOT THE STUFF!

So fight! Fight! Fight for Red and White!

And we will go to victory!

The program has been a dumpster fire for decades. The new training facility and stadium were supposed to game changers and help UNLV turn the corner and position themselves for a possible P5 invite. To me that’s like putting Grey Poupon on a $hit sandwich.

That’s within reach if they hire the right coach.  Sanchez isn’t the guy.

It’s gonna take more than the right coach.

No, all it takes is the right coach.

UNLV will have the facilities to compete and win in the MWC.

For decades people said SDSU would never be able to win.  They hired terrible coach after terrible coach.

Finally they hired an average coach and BYU, Utah and TCU left.  Now they are decent.

All it takes is one good hire and everything is fixed.

UNLV will eventually get lucky and make a decent hire.

We’ll hiring “the right coach” starts at the top and the BOR. so there you go.

The Nevada BOR got out of the coach hiring business in September 2016.  Maybe you missed the news?

Nevada's higher education board gave UNLV's president more authority over the hiring of high-profile coaches.

Under these New Policies  – institution presidents are authorized to execute all employment contracts for athletic directors and athletic coaches including all business terms related to compensation. For certain high-dollar contracts, the institution president must provide written certifications to the Chancellor and the Chief of Staff of the Board of Regents related to the contract – including (a) that the financial terms are reasonable in the context of the market for the position and the appointee’s professional reputation and expertise, (b) that the institution has, or reasonably expects to have, the funds necessary to pay all sums that may become owed under the contract, and (c) that the institution has completed a reasonable background investigation on the appointee. The institution president is also required to use any Contract Template, Checklist and Guidelines that have been approved by the Board and that is applicable to the appointee, and must provide a written explanation of any variations from the approved Contract Template. In addition, the Policy Proposals make clear that the institution president will be held responsible for all employment contracts and other actions related to athletic director and athletic coaches as part of his or her duty to provide oversight and management of all intercollegiate athletic programs. The Policy also requires institutions to provide an annual statement (certified by the president) describing the methods by which the institution achieves a balanced athletic department budget – including the disclosure of any reliance on funds from outside the athletic department (like student fees and gifts from boosters etc.). If the athletic department budget is not based on a sustainable financial model, the annual statement shall include a plan for achieving a sustainable athletic department budget.

Who do you think would want UNLV as part of your “New Conference”?

Maybe the Big Sky?
