I think everyone would be much happier if Congress stopped believing they can make so many laws that both California and Texas agree on.   California should be allowed to ban certain weapons, allow reproductive choice,  have universal healthcare...and Texas can do the opposite without Washington's interference.  The only issue I have is that Texas shouldn't be able to setup maquiladoras with slave labor and no environmental laws without CA having some recourse when those products come into CA.  This is the same beef I have with some of our international trade agreement.

Are you sick?

Why would the Democrats run another moderate like the Clintons?  Their whole strategy was to adopt conservative ideas.

You are as clueless as the Democrats. Clinton lost because she had too much baggage and was unlikable. Now the Democrats have gone far left to appease people like you. I hope they do run a far left candidate. They will get demolished.

Trump is a problem. We need a reasonable opposition to keep him in check. What we’re seeing is not that.

Trump’s biggest problem is that he talks/tweets without thinking and most of the time looks like a blowhard with a huge ego. More than anything, it’s a problem of optics, not policy.

It’s more than optics though. He’s a bullshitter that purposely trolls his political opponents so effectively they lose their mind. In response Democratic leadership has given in to the resistance cult resulting in the circus we just witness. There are no adults at the wheel and it’s his job to be one of them. Trump not being able to do that is a problem, one that’s going to continue to fester and remain a problem even after we’re rid of him.

That's the thing. I believe the Trump presidency is a symptom of broader political and societal causes but he chooses to accelerate the problem. He's exactly the opposite of the leader we need right now, despite whatever economic good or other positive thing he may be partly responsible for. Dismissing his behavior and lying as unimportant, or even worse, endorsing the nonsense, is very damaging to the country, despite a rising stock market, etc.

He has caused a lot more strife, but the Democrats, supporters, and media get side tracked by it. He’s like a troll on a message board that says things to get a rise out of people and when they pay attention it just drags them into the mud with him. And they can’t help themselves. The smart thing to do is ignore it and concentrate on things that matter to the American people.

The other problem for the Democrats is they are on the wrong side of policy. The economy and jobs are very important to the average person. Most American people do not want illegal immigration. They do not want to be over regulated. They want a strong military. They don’t want the government infringing on their gun rights. They want law and order. They don’t want to be over taxed by an inefficient government. Trump is on the right side of all of those issues and it’s why he won the presidency and is gaining more support all the time despite his rhetoric.

Agree.  I didn't vote for either, nor will I in 2020.  You got another moderate Dem in your back pocket?

I recall how much I dislike Trump each and every time I check my portfolio.

Sure, I'd much rather have a booming economy and a POTUS that isn't a horses ass.  Most Dems that are being talked about currently are pretty liberal.  That means regulations and higher taxes - and hits to the economic prosperity we are seeing.  You got someone that can deliver both of these?  This past couple of weeks I observed some very weak character from the Dems, both in the streets and in the Senate Chambers.  Not much different than how Trump's behaving.

But their bad behavior is somehow justified.

I could see someone like Beto if he can beat Cruz.  I could also see a Democratic governor since they have to govern.   I am not a huge fan of some of the younger senators, like Booker.  Hirono would be perfect VP candidate to attack Trump.

Dems do this on everything - they lose the election - "Lets get rid of the Electoral College!"

They lose on Kavanaugh - "Lets take Senators away from low populated states!"

They lose the Supreme Court that they were counting on to force social changes, so now they are actually floating the idea of stacking the SC - "Lets add 6 SC Justices to offset the Conservative court".

The Dems would do away with half the US Constitution if they could.  2nd Amendment? - No way that stays!  Free Speech? - not if its something they don't like.  US States equally controlling the Senate? - Oh thats not fair to millions in California.  Heck by that reasoning the US should shed most of its wealth and power and give it to Asia and Africa and S.America.
Borders? - The US should do away with borders!   Freedom of Religion? - not if it doesn't endorse liberal policies.

Democrats had all these big plans - liberal gov't to push socialist legislation, SC that would enforce liberal social changes, and liberal gov't agencies like the IRS, FBI, EPA etc. that would enact more and more regulations and work against conservative opposition.  And along came Trump and ruined everything!

Pelosi for one.

So she praises dictators, bangs and buys off porn stars while her wife is pregnant and or at home with an infant, apparently takes part in massive tax dodging fraud schemes, brags about grabbing pussies on introduction, stirs hatred for the media, except outlets that are nice to him, mocks the memories of women who could have been been sexually assaulted?
