Fixed that for you. The money flying around on this end of the state is stupid right now. Almost Wyoming-esque. :P

Seriously though, it's a cheap and easy game that increases visiblity in an oft-neglected part of New Mexico and the fundraising potential is truly there. This isn't the Texas Tech-bloc it was a generation ago. Weir playing the long game.

So how do you feel about this schedule?  Only 1 P5 school on the schedule.

St Mary's had 3 on their non conference schedule (Washington St, Georgia, and Cal) had a record of 28-5  and got left out of the NCCA.   They played Washington and Utah in the NIT also to have a total of 5 by the end of their season (finished 30-6).  I would think that New Mexico's OOC schedule will greatly limiting there chance at any-kind of NCAA at-large bid (kind of win the auto bid is the only option).

Obviously, playing shitty P5 schools in OOC didn't help St. Marys. It probably hurt them.

So they’re playing a real game, then an exhibition after that? And then playing a road game at a school with a gym I’m assuming holds as much as a high school?  It’s an odd schedule for sure..

It’s neglected because it has a population of 34k.

That’s a pretty pretty bad schedule imo. I don’t see any quad 1 games, thus I don’t see any path to an at large with that schedule. Colorado is probably the best game but that’s at home and they are middle of road pac12 this year. Maybe it’s be quad 1 if it was road or neutral.

St Mary’s will take a big step back they are looking at 3r or 4th in the wcc this year.

No, LOSING to shitty teams like WSU and Georgia is what hurt them.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I think they were also hurt by mostly staying home in nonconference.  Other than the Wooden Legacy at Cal State Fullerton, Saint Mary's didn't leave NorCal.  Their true road games ooc were at SJSU and Cal.
