Their head coach wants to get with him this week to get more of a story on why he left. However pretty much he can't come back to the Bills now

Yah, you cant retire at halftime.  That's called quitting, not retiring.

After the game, sure, if your heart just isn't in it, it's his life, he is welcome to retire.  But not at freaking halftime. 

Sounds like some sort of personal issues/life crisis.
