The Kavanaughcalypse!

Because it’s funny! Or at least, some people find it funny. I don’t see the world that way, I don’t view Graham’s speeches yesterday the same way. But still, you can’t control what you find humorous. Chuckling at a joke is not a rational reaction, it’s an uncontrollable response to stimuli. And there are some people that think very differently than I do, so they find things funny that I don’t and vice versa.

If you find the comment stupid, pointing out the intersectional identities of Graham as being (likely) gay, conservative, and southern; simply plays into the stupid game where a conservative southerner must be racist. And it’s the same stupid game that would seek to limit speech because it doesn’t comport with the racist, sexist hierarchy that line of thinking adheres to.

Or he could’ve made a Foghorn Leghorn joke.

I dont agree with you on this.

Remember the scene in Costners Perfect Game movie?  Where he tells the rookie you can either go out to the reporters and make a funny joke at yourself, or you can just hold your head up and walk out of the lockerroom?  Thats what this makes me think of.

Has there ever been any reason to think Graham is racist?  Not that ive heard of.  And would it be ok to insinuate that if he wasnt gay, conservative, and southern?  I dont think so.

Well, he might not be gay. Also, that Costner movie sucked even with Vin Scully.

You shut your mouth. The baseball scenes were all timers. The romance scenes sucked. Mixed bag.

Although you also said Godfather 3 wasn’t that bad, so there.

We’re all sitting in the dugout. Thinking we should pitch. How you gonna throw a shutout when all you do is bitch.

Wasn’t that on one of those threads where we were supposed to say outlandish things? Geez, I guess I picked a good one.

Also, my dead grandmother could’ve beat out that last grounder. That perfect game is tainted!

The point is that Graham’s southern accent was shared by many people that supported whites only water fountains. It’s no more a joke about Graham than about his accent. Now, surely the blue check marked twitter account means to impugn Graham. But that doesn’t make it an intelligent critique, just one directed an already unthinking audience that would find it funny. And if it’s funny to them, you can’t seriously say it isn’t funny, or worth being said. That’s what the jackasses who want to say Graham is racist because of the way talks want to be the rule.

Graham isn’t a racist, or at least nothing about the man’s public life indicates so. Some people think because he is white, or conservative, or a southerner, or a Republican, or defended Kavanaugh, or all of the above; thinks that alone makes him a racist because of his group. They’re idiots. But by resorting to the group defense as to why their argument is wrong or he should be off limits, you’re playing their stupid game where the individual doesn’t matter and the group is all that counts. You can’t fight stupidity by playing by their rules. It’s not funny because it isn’t funny and those that laugh are ignorant of Graham, not because of his sexuality, race, or where he lives.

We need more free speech. Playing that game only lends creedence to a stupid way of thinking about the world.

Toonkee is a nice guy too.  Have you ever seen him lose his cool?  I havent.

But he thinks this tweet is funny apparently. So what am I supposed to do with that?

I can pretend I think its funny, so people here think im affable,  Except its not funny.

Dude...I just don't know.

I didn't ascribe all those labels to the whole thing. I'm not even sure about the most likely gay part of his voice has anything to do with it, or at least I didn't get that from it.  I thought Graham's tone yesterday was reminiscent of those awful people in the 50's and that's what resonated with me.  The disgust in his voice.

All the left does is call people stupid, call them racist or make a strawman argument.

This whole Kavanaugh deal is just another example of this.  They can't can't make a political argument the guy is not qualified.  They can't oppose him politically because even half their side thinks abortion is a contemptible thing.  So all they can do is find some way to attack his character.

They can't attack Graham either on the issues.  So again they attack his character.

This has been the left's only strategy since the utter failure of the great society and socialism.  They have nothing else.  They have no ideas.  All they can do is divide and hate. People who sometimes come off as reasonable thinking individuals like you and NVGiant and many others don't seem to see this as the failure of character it is.

So Maryland LE said they’re ready and willing to investigate provided a victim comes forward.  However, it’s also been reported that prosecution was unlikely in Maryland because authorities would have to apply the law that existed at the time of the offense, not the law that exists now.  And “in 1982, assault and attempted rape were both misdemeanors and subject to a one-year statute of limitations.”

Good job Dems, good job!

I don't know how much truth there is to this, but according to this guy, this is the reason the GOP wanted Kav rushed through quickly. This case is set for October 5th, and could possibly grant Trump the right to pardon himself? This was written 3-4 days ago.

The reason for the rush is very clear and much more straightforward.

No, I'm afraid the answer is: 'When the accused went to Yale Law.'

You do win a take-home version of Who Wants to Argue About Abortion on The Internet? Pull it out at your next cocktail party.

Yale? Burn him on the stake

The only reason to confirm Kavanaugh is so the gop can continue to inflict maximum cruelty on women. Any number of craven right-wing judges would be all too happy to do the nra and religious rights bidding from the highest court in the land and probably avoid credible accusations of serial sexual assault, but no, it has to be this guy because in the conservative lizard brain, winning and humiliating the opponent in the process is   more important than anything else.

The trumptards have won, and this is only the latest example of it. Confirming Kavanaugh is just them grabbing their crotches as they fall into the end zone.

Damn, you have busted the code. I bet you are wonders in escape rooms.

It’s the FBI, they’ll start with her. She doesn’t have to cooperate. But they won’t have much to ask without that.

My guess is what we’ll see is her attourney’s will say she isn’t available to interview this week. That way we can have an outcry about the one week limit agreed to by Flake.

She is the key in this FBI investigation. I'm wondering if she will cooperate?

The reason for the rush is to get the new person confirmed before the Dems possibly take over the senate in November
