As part of the terms of the Fox buyout, Disney agreed to divest Fox’s regional sports networks, which hold the broadcasting rights of 44 professional sports teams.

Sinclair Broadcast Group (SBGI), Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL), Amazon.com (AMZN), Blackstone Group (BX) and Apollo Global Management (APO) are reportedly among the companies interested in Fox’s regional sports networks. Comcast could also be interested after missing out on a full buyout of Fox. Comcast already owns seven regional sports networks.

Here is a list of the Networks up for sale:

The Los Angeles and Dallas channels will go for big money.

The San Diego channel needs more content.  Maybe SDSU?

oh gawd, I hope we don't have to get Amazon Prime to watch MW football!

Speaking for myself, I'd love it.

I already have Prime for the free shipping, and we like shows on Prime. If they can get it, and show it at a reasonable time of day, I'm all for it.

You got the Padres and SDSU...not too enticing.

Padres actually do really well ratings wise...SDSU isn't an option so long as MW has our rights tied up with CBSSN/ESPN. Both do very well ratings wise in the local market. I could see maybe an Amazon or another larger entity purchasing several of these channels, re-branding them, and then bidding for SDSU's(or any other in-market teams) 3rd tier rights next round.

Go Amazon!

Maybe they’ll include the channels w Prime?

Followed by another Prime rate hike.  I don't mind since I have Twitch Prime and I have gotten like five free PC games per month since April or May.  That is probably at least $200 worth of games.

That means every Big 12 program save for Texas could have new tier 3 media rights deals soon.  USC and UCLA will be watching those developments for sure.  I'm wondering if the MWC might decide to let schools control some of their media rights deals like the Big 12 schools do.  Right now I'm just not seeing the Pac-12 Network being able to continue for a second media rights deal.

It's just not a sports town.  None of their teams draw well.  Which is why the NFL & NBA bolted.  It's probably just a matter of time until the Padres find a new home.
