Ok here's a new angle.

Instead of just trying to get Gonzaga or merging with the AAC, why don't we keep our football brand intact AND get Gonzaga by merging with the WCC? It would be great! With 22 teams in conference you just play 16 teams once, missing one team every 5 years or so. Boom, done, easy. Lots of basketball and dominance of the West (now that the PAC is looking like a one bid league). It's brilliant, because it's my idea!

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

BYU would immediately begin to espouse the benefits of being an Indy in basketball.

OK, that might actually be sort of fun.

I'm not sure what it would do for rivalries with that many teams.  But it is not a bad idea.

You guys would need to take down that scoreboard at Moby.  There'd be Church schools in the league.  A pornographic scoreboard would not be tolerated.

The BYU Womens basketball team played in Fort Collins twice in the last 3 seasons.  They seemed to enjoy it.

Especially when they got to sneak off for a drink in town

Also add UC-Davis, Grand Canyon University and New Mexico State (Olympics only). 24 teams. (FWIW, 11 + 10 = 21). Split into four 6-team scheduling divisions. 20 conference games - 10 games against your division (home-away) and 10 cross-division games. Play the cross-division opponents at least twice in four years (home-away). 10-4-3-3 schedule.

The 2-week conference tournament would be insane!

NORTH: Gonzaga, Boise St., BYU, Utah St., St. Mary's, Portland

SOUTH: San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Diego, LMU, Pepperdine, Pacific

MOUNTAIN: Wyoming, Colorado St., Air Force, New Mexico, New Mexico St., Grand Canyon

WEST: SDSU, UNLV, Nevada, Fresno St., SJSU, UC-Davis

Thinking outside the box.  Someone set up a meeting with CT.  I am sure he already has backup plans for his backup plans moving forward.

You could also merge into the Big Mountain West-ern Sky Coast Athletic Conference (plus 12 Big Sky schools plus 8 other current Big West schools plus CSU Bakersfield, UC-San Diego, UVU, and Seattle) and completely dominate California and everything west of Texas. Though, I think you might have to switch out the North Dakota Fighting Hawks for the Denver Pioneers to truly realize the domination. The BMWSCAC. Just rolls off the tongue.

This is brilliant.

But the West and South need to be rearranged.

Let me guess. Your goal is to accelerate SDSU's departure?

Boom goes the dynamite.

Where ya gonna depart to? Try for the AAC and we'll make it a 30+ team league baby. No shame

I think Craig Thompson gets his expansion ideas from this board.

From what I an tell, principally from UNM fans advocating the admission of UTEP or some other turds from Texas or from Wyo fans thinking Montana and Montana State would be wonderful. Occasionally from a non-Lobo or non-Cowboy whose sanity is seriously in question when they say it's high time for the MWC to pop the question to Houston.

Boom goes the dynamite.
