IMO, Nevada holds the key to Gonzaga, as Thompson still wants 12/12

As far as I know, RR has not done something like that.  At least not as long as I’ve owned the board.

RebelRobert absolutely did it, though not on this board. On RebelNet a number of years ago, he took a picture of another UNLV fan there (Maybe RebelX or someone like that...the name escapes me and he wasn't around much after that). Anyway, Robert took the picture of the poster's daughter and photoshopped her head or face onto a pornographic photo....she was young too. It was classless and sick and RebelRobert was banned from his own school's board....probably still is. Robert posts are all moronic and always have been, but that was another level.

Tell me more about USD ponying up $3-5 million per for their next MBB coach.

Hey, I’m not a Muss follower, so I don’t care to know much about him, or where he’s from, or what his basketball career was with what ever team... but you know what I meant. It may not be SD, but don’t fool yourself, it’ll be someone with way more money than Nevada can offer to keep him there.

This has happened to every team in this conference in one sport or another. And if UNM’s coach is successful than he too will be a candidate for a huge raise.

I personally think we should go the SDSU route next hire. We look for a really old guy that has a few skeletons in his closet and who’s too tired and frail to make another move. 👍

I mean that is kinda Muss. Coached at the highest level but got a DUI and got fired. Had to basically rebuild image. Muss might not seem it but he’s 53 now, Fischer was 54 when he took the SDSU job so not a ton older then when Muss took the Nevada job.

UNLV had Tark

SDSU had Fischer

Nevada has Muss.

If we want that long 20 year run you have to get lucky and keep your best coach. Nevada can probably get him to 2 to 2.5 million (he’s at 1.5 now). There will always be places that’ll offer more but it’ll be up to him if that’s enough and he’s happy. We love him here and he loves it here, it’s not easy to be loved at places like UCLA. That’s the only hope.

You got that right @NevadaFan. If Weir has any kind of success here this coming season, and say he has an even better season in 2019... he’ll be gone as well.

I think that G5 schools that have any kind of longer term coaching success, will eventually lose those coaches, especially if they are young up and comers.

You may be onto something, going after successful older coaches who are looking for that one last coaching spot to call it good at.

Yep.....“that’s the only hope.”

Muss has the keys to the city, the fans have shown up, boosters have gotten him to a respectable salary, and he has proven you can get (somewhat) on the national stage here in Reno, but in the end that might not be enough.

I’m still on the fence whether he leaves after this season or not, but gun to my head I would play the odds and say he ditches us.  The nice thing is I think this is the year, unless the team dramatically underperforms, that Pack fans will find out if we have our guy or it’s back to the drawing board.

I don't agree. Muss would like to have Gonzaga in the conference for all the reasons stated above. Adding a legit national program is like a rising tide lifting all ships.

Exactly. Having schools like Gonzaga in the MWC will make it more likely he’ll stay. He very much wanted G to join this year.

God asked me this but I had no clue so maybe you can help.

Nevada hasn’t been Vegas bitch in basketball since ‘93. You know, back when Hawaii was good a football.
