Trump says the EU is a foe of the U. S.

How about calling out the country that has been sabotaging our electoral system, and continues to do so?  Seems like that is foe-worthy to me.  I’m mean, if you are going to throw around the the word, then it certainly seems like that would be a good occasion.  And maybe use the word less toward our allies, or maybe not at all.

They have been doing that for 70+ years?

Why are you not upset Obama didn't call them out.  Oh that's right you are only upset now because the Russians aren't meddling in our elections in the leftists favor.

The bullshit about election meddling suddenly is really boring.

I agree with everything you just said except the balanced budget amendment. We need to be able to deficit spend during times of war and economic contraction.  It’s stupid to deficit spend in an era of economic expansion like we have now.  They also shouldn’t have cut taxes and kept that in their back pocket for the next recession (which will happen eventually).

There still should be an emergency-type spending provision in case of war, but economic contraction is part of any free market. There will always be recession and expansion. However, the less government interferes, the less severe these would be.

In an interview with "CBS Evening News" anchor Jeff Glor in Scotland on Saturday, President Trump named the European Union -- comprising some of America's oldest allies -- when asked to identify his "biggest foe globally right now."

"Well, I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade.

I get it. Shit for some reason now I'm considered a lib. Hey whatever.

Haha me too....   I was a Republican who left after the McCain Bush 2 primary.   I had donated the max to McCain and didn’t appreciate the rumors in South Carolina.   Prior to that I worked for Thomas Evans a Republican Congressman from Delaware who was fiscally conservative and pro environment.

Left the Party as the social conservatives and pro torture crowd took over.   Today now I guess I’m a liberal.

Wow.

You might try reading some of the GOP platforms from 20-30 years ago.

You were never a Repiblican, according to those.

Just Sayin'...

Dude you are not old enough or smart enough to know the Republican “big tent” Party of the 80’s and 90’s.   The term Rhino didn’t exist in that time period as the party hadn’t been captured by the extremists.

The GOP hasn't changed much over the past several decades.

Democrats have changed a ton, even in less than 10.

Immigration, for example.

I will agree that the Reagan "big tent" is long gone, but seriously, the platform is pretty much the same as it was on 1984.

Corporate tax rate needed to be reduced.

I’ll agree with that but they shouldn’t have touched the individual rates.  There wasn’t a need to adjust them.  For the record corporate taxes are only 9% of federal tax revenues.

I agree 1000% with this. This is going to lead to yuuuuuuuuge problems which should start to show up near the end of next year. It could be cataclysmic, given that corporate debt levels are at all time highs.

It was insanely ill-timed. Honestly though there hasn't been a well-timed tax cut since Kennedy's back in the 60s.

I think it was in 96 when Barry Goldwater looked at Bob Dole and said "We're the new liberals of the Republican Party, can you imagine that?"

It's hard to. I wish we could get a guy like Barry in the office. Dude was my political hero.

That was when the Republicans had a strong western libertarian wing.  People like Bob Packwood would never exist in today’s Republican Party.

I’d go for another Eisenhower right about now.

I know. Mr. Conservative himself couldn't get elected in today's GOP. Neither could Packwood.

He’d never be in today’s Republican Party either.

Agreed. They wouldn't be democrats either. Too many stances to get the socialist crowd pissed. They'd all be cast off in Ron Paul land and labeled loons.
