Wyoming under fire for being racist and sexist

You implying something about the sexual preferences of racist, sexist “cowboys”?

Like you've never been at a bar, 6+ in, and see a heifer from across the room that has been looking better and better all night

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

Wyoming should change their mascot because cowboys suck.

Planning is an exercise of power, and in a modern state much real power is suffused with boredom. The agents of planning are usually boring; the planning process is boring; the implementation of plans is always boring. In a democracy boredom works for bureaucracies and corporations as smell works for skunk. It keeps danger away. Power does not have to be exercised behind the scenes. It can be open. The audience is asleep. The modern world is forged amidst our inattention.

San Jose State should change their mascot because they are all about creature comforts and quality of life

Sparta hasn't left its stain on the culture. Just a couple of sub-par movies with decent action sequences.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a graduate student group trying to make that change right now.

Edit... actually it's not a PhD granting institution, so their grad students have a cap on how insufferable they can be.

If you have to take the time to explain your marketing campaign, then it's already failed.

I think it’s been pretty successful so far. I mean, people outside of the organization from all across the US are discussing the topic (and the majority I have seen are in support of the slogan). Not a bad marketing campaign imo. Hopefully UW doesn’t cave in to the PC police in the end and sticks with it.

The old any publicity is good publicity strategy.

Dissenters including myself must admit she has a very impressive educational background. Props to Wyoming for bringing her aboard.

she's got quite the range on education to be teaching women's studies.

Don't forget Hawaiian Cowboys.

Ironic that you brought this up.  The Parker Ranch in Hawaii brought in Mexican cowboys to teach the locals how to ride horses and rope cattle.  Many lost fingers on the saddle horn when roping.  The Mexicanos taught them so well that they won a rodeo championship held in you guessed it, Wyoming.

what background does an instructor in women's studies usually have?
