This article is a prime example of why we need to get rid of more regulations!

It's more about deceit.  If you order a local product don't you want it to be a local product?

Who is doing the deceiving?  And who would be responsible for ensuring the deceit wasn't perpetrated?

Libertarians and many conservatives believe companies should self-regulate.  That companies would be honest with their customers, and government is only interfering with things.

What do you think?

I think you didn't answer my question.  If you order a local product don't you want it to be a local product?

The most powerful regulator in the world is the consumer.

It wouldn't surprise me if similar fraud occurs at Farmer's markets.

It happens. They go to the grocery store buy a bunch of tomatoes and sell them as locally grown organics.

Sure.  But a whole bunch have to be victimized first.  Good trade-off, though, right?

Who knows what's really on your menu - Sushi is wrong 75% of the time.  Restaurants?  38% wrong - Grocery -18%  And those figures are probably low.  Most frequently mislabeled fish in fish markets/supermarkets?  Snapper, Grouper, Cod.  In restaurants?  Snapper, Cod, Chilean Sea Bass and Grouper.

Nah, we should let companies self-regulate.   Because they're always honest and forthright, right?

What could go wrong?

Because nobody in government is ever wrong or corrupt, right? I mean, government solves everything.
