More conferences means more power conferences.  There were about 8 power conferences at the time

There were less conferences and teams.  In what planet does more 200 plus no resource schools mean more power conferences?  Take away Louisville and they were worse than the MWC

They had 7 to 8 teams. How do you expect them to see the same level of success as 9? Also, if the resources are divided more equally, there are more power conferences.

Remember that every argument you have with someone on MWCboard is actually the continuation of a different argument they had with someone else also on MWCboard.

You are still talking about a shit conference.  Take away Louisville and there was not much.  With a power house that made Gonzaga look like a nothing burger they still only managed to average 7th.  Take away Louisville and you are looking at a really bad version of the American. 17 NCAA tournament wins in 20 years.  Kind of pathetic.  Take away the Ville and you have a really bad version of  the AAC.

You keep acting like taking away the most successful member of a 7 team power conference wouldn't significantly neuter any 7 team power conference.

The '70s were not the same basketball landscape as today. The Metro was a power conference. That's what power conferences looked like.

He isn't aware of the sporting world before 2001, or he has the wit of the autistic. One or the other. Forgive him.

Seriously?  How does it being easier to fund make it easier to achieve success?  LMAO.  The national champs in basketball only had 9.4 million in expenses.  One team has  a national title in football from a non power conference and that was in a completely different system.

What Gonzaga has accomplished has been done before and much better.  Louisville did FAR more while in a non power conference.

The Metro back then would be like the Big East today. Major or no, it was considered a quality league. The comparison you’re looking for is UNLV in the PCAA/Big West. It’s the only apt comparison I can think of.

Yeah. Had he said that he'd have had a point. Because the Big West was garbage back then, as the WCC is now. I don't get why he brought up Louisville other than that he's clueless about historic college basketball.

Averaged out to be the 7th best conference during it's existence.  Seems like a stretch.

Which conferences would you have included as power conferences during that time period?  Big Eight?  Southwest?  WAC?  Pac-8/10?  Southeastern?

Still waiting on an answer.
