History of Hip Hop!

Oh boy, sign me up......jk, please don't.

I know we have a lot of closeted Duke Blue Devil fans here in MWC land.

Here's an interesting article about the next years #1 pick in the NBA draft and undoubtedly the best big man in college hoops this year:

Anyone could take the History of Rock n Roll or the History of Jazz at my school.  Kind of fun classes for kids to get some arts credits out of the way.  Kind of felt like a waste of money at some level, but probably more interesting than a lot of art subjects for most people.

Done correctly, I could see a lot of value in a history of Hip Hop

Yeah, I really don't have any problem with it, just used it to "set the hook".

Not a waste of money, exploring and learning different things is what college should be about, that's why all the degree programs make you earn a certain number of hours in areas outside of your major.

Yeah a lot of schools require some minor form of fine art/culture as part of a degree (any degree even engineering).

AP world history counted as my "culture" class (passed AP test got college credits).

A Comic spirit class and a nonverbal communication class were my "fine art" requirements.

So yes history of hip hop, or jazz, or rock, or whatever would check the art box. Which honestly I don't have any problem with. A waste? Maybe... But at the same time have a "interesting/easy" class or two (provided that is all) can be a valuable part of a college degree. The key is a PART (a small part at that) not the entire degree.
