Someone will hack these and people are going to die. People can already hack into parts of cars now. https://www.wired.com/story/car-hack-shut-down-safety-features/

You put all systems under computer control and I don't like it at all. Before you say conspiracy theory read this. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2017/03/08/what-we-know-about-car-hacking-the-cia-and-those-wikileaks-claims/?utm_term=.e97ca47694b4

I think that threat is real. But I'm more afraid of little Suzy typing away on her iPhone while behind the wheel, or some drunk +++++er tossing back a case of OldStyle before going for a joy ride.

Yeah I agree with you.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I just don't trust computers to do drive cars. And I certainly don't trust people won't hack them.

I would love to be able to simply browse the internets or do homework while my car drove me to work every morning and home every evening. That being said, the hacking concerns are very real, and I'm not really a fan of the concept of a car without any manual controls in case something went horribly wrong.

I mean, the numbers for decreased accidents and problems on the road are awesome, but the potential for problems and hacking seems nuts to me.  I don't know how you reconcile it.

You’ll be able to MWCBoard every day on your way to work!

For starters, I would isolate the car's control systems from the entertainment systems.  The control systems would be updated with a wired connection only and encrypted to beat all hell.  Still not sure which is more dangerous a hack-able car or the marginally functional idiot texting as they are driving next to me.

Good.  I live in a heavy retirement area and way too many old people still trying to drive due to lack of public transportation.  Tired of little old ladies going the wrong way on these new-fangled things called roundabouts

I use to read an entire San Diego Tribune paper on the way to work.  Oh yeah,  bus service is great in San Diego.
