Can anybody else be ranked by the end of the season?

Recommended Posts

Let’s say SDSU wins out (which obviously isn’t a given, but for the sake of this thread let’s say we do) can anybody from the Mountain division be ranked by the time the conference championship game is played? I’m thinking CSU has a shot, but they would need double-digit wins the rest of the season and some teams hovering in the 20 to 35 range to drop a few.

How likely is it that we can have two ranked teams for the championship game?

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible...in fact, there may not be any ranked MWC teams after FS hangs an L on SUDS. Oh well...

No... because SEC Mountain teams will beat up on each other, fighting tooth and nail, on their way to a representative against a Aztec  team that cakewalked its way to the title game.

Lol at SEC Mountain. You would fit right in with the AAC fans in terms of delusions of grandeur.

You may be correct.  SDSU is obviously the MWC's best hope to get ranked high.  Yet CSU may have a shot, if it should go undefeated thru regular season.  I reckon a narrow loss to SDSU could get them both in Top 25???   Not sure how a narrow CSU Win over SDSU in the CCG would play out.  No doubt it would hurt SDSU rankings... but SDSU could drop some & maybe still be ranked the highest G5 to gain a NY6 Bowl... while CSU able to enter Top 25?   USF & UCF would probably need to lose 1 along the way for that to happen.

We'll have to see how the Rocky Mountain Showdown vs. CU (which was totally Stolen by the P12 Ref's via multiple OPI's & other phantom calls) is viewed by the Pollsters.

It'd be great for the MWC to acheive 2 teams in the Top 25 after the Bowl season.  Go MWC & Go RAMS!!!!!!!!

You're new around here, aren't you?

The funny part is that it's a SUDS fan, every single time that gets worked up about the joke.  Every single time.

The fastest way to get two teams in would be if Boise beats SDSU this Saturday. SDSU would likely drop out, but barely, and Boise would start getting votes. Troy and Wazzu continuing to win would help.

Colorado State. They could be ranked by November if they keep winning. The Alabama loss is not held against them. Regarding Colorado, if they voter just did a little digging, they would realize CSU was screwed.

Just now, Joe from WY said:

CSU. Boise has an outside shot if they win this week, but getting keelhauled at home by UVa kind of ends their hopes.

Boise would easily get there faster than CSU by winning. Troy is not far out of the top 25 in the coaches poll (32nd). With a win over SDSU, Boise would be 2 or 3 weeks away from having two wins over top 25 teams (assuming SDSU and Troy keep winning), and a 3 OT loss to a top 10 team. Boise still has a recognizable name, as well.

If Boise wins out, they'll be ranked.  If CSU wins out, they could be ranked.  You're right about the name.

Whoever wins the SEC Mountain should be ranked as long as they don't have more than 2 losses. Maybe 3 but they would need some help.

I think Boise and CSU are the only ones with a chance, barring something strange happening. CSU has a tougher route and doesn't play SDSU, so that hurts their SOS. The Rams still haven't beaten a team with a winning record and has a double digit loss to another .500 team.

Easy answer is CSU.

If they are 10-2 going into the champ game I believe they will be ranked in the 23-25 range.

1. NOBODY will hold an 18 pt loss @ #1 Alabama against them

2.  Teams ranked that low are allowed to have on head scratcher (ie the Colorado loss)

3. They play the three worst teams in the West division
